I have discovered a strange issue with downloaded files on my Nexus 7. After the first two downloads, downloaded files never appear in the Downloads app. They do, however, appear in the downloads file in ES file explorer, so that is not a huge issue. It would be nice to have them in the app though. A bigger issue is that when I connect my Nexus to my computer to copy the files for storage, I do not get the most recent downloaded files unless I power down the Nexus and power it up again. Any suggestions or explanations?

You can select the timeframe of when the downloads occurred in the Downloads screen--does that make a difference?

Try clearing the cache for Download Manager in Settings/Apps/All.

Hmm. I'm stumped, then. When I get a chance to look at my N7, I'll see if there's any way to select a Download location, but I doubt it.

On the second issue, files not showing up when connected to a computer - download an app like Rescan Media and run it before you connect to the computer (or even during).

The other day I had downloaded some files and moved them to another folder with ES File Explorer and I could see them in ES, but not from a PC. Ran Rescan Media and after a brief freeze of the Explorer window they popped up on the PC.

Forcing a media scan might help with your first issue, too.
