Download unsuccessful

Bought a new droid 2, and everything I try to download, I'm getting, "Download unsuccessful, please try again."

I've tried:
1. Factory reset (both ways)
2. Clearing cache on market and data on download manager
3. Removing SD card
4. Creating a new Google account and using that after factory reset

Been on with VZW for over an hour now, kind of at the end of my rope. Did I get a dud phone?

Finally gave up on the phone after on the phone with VZW and Moto for over an hour and a half. Switched back to my phone with the wonky screen. Went to download an app, and... "Download unsuccessful". Could my gmail account be locked out? Or could there be some sort of flag with VZW? I tried making a whole new gmail account, and got the same problem.

Has ANYONE else had this problem? After many factory resets, could they have flagged my account?

Help!

What does the error say after the download?

I had that problem awhile back and unmounting the SD card then downloading the app worked. I got sick of doing that and wound up having to delete a file off of the SD card from my PC. I'll try to poke around and see if I can find it.

It was just saying, "Download unsuccessful"

BUT I found out the same problem was affecting my tablet, and the phone I replaced. All were tied to the same gmail account. Could google have temporarily locked me out because of strange activity? I did a factory reset probably 9-10 times over the weekend trying to fix my wonky screen. Maybe they froze access because of multiple downloads of the same app in a short time?

I opened a ticket with google, and they didn't respond, but around 10 PM it just starter working.

If the data services beyond the Market are working like the browser and email, then the network is fine and your device is transmitting data so the device is good too! You will want to escalate this with Google/Android directly to resolve. Go to https://market.android.com/ and sign in, then follow the Help link at the bottom of the page.

This is a known issue - Google 'Android Market download unsuccessful' and you'll see what I mean. I had this problem a couple months ago. I found a post saying to delete any .tmp files in the .android_secure folder on the SD card. This corrected my problem. Seems like this issue has been a problem for a lot of folks.

It wasn't a device-specific problem, but rather attached to my gmail account. I had the same problem with my google tablet using the same account.

Have you heard anything back from Google on this? I am having the exact same problem. Internet and e-mail works fine but I can't install anything from the market just says Download Unsuccessful try again and it's a bit irritating.

I never heard back from Google. I found that it was a known issue with google through forums, and from the fact that I had the same problem on my tablet and my phone. Shortly after opening a ticket with them, though, the problem stopped.

I am currently having this same problem. It starting with certain applications not updating. Thinking it was a problem with the app, I uninstalled them and then they wouldn't uninstall. I started getting a growing list of applications that wouldn't update. (About 7) Other applications were still updating.

I ended up doing a factory reset on the phone and reformatting the sd card and guess what, still having the problem!!

Taking the phone into Verizon today but not very hopeful.

I have a same problem. I did the factory reset and after that I was unable to download any app and receive a message :" download was unsuccessful please try again". I found out this is related to two step verification in gmail. you should go to your account and have it off , then login to the google account for mail and market separately on your phone I suppose. Then after you login you can turn that on again.
