Downloading 4.1.83 OTA now

up/down speeds

the down speed didn't improve for me... if anything it was a little slower. upload is up over 1000kbps when it was around 200 kbps before. other than that i guess we'll see if i get "net work unavailable" every other time i try to do ANYTHING on the phone. i'm pissed that i'm still on att but don't wanna drop the cash to switch... ug.

oh and i'm in the philly area if that helps anyone else.

I got the update and get downspeeds between 3-4Mbps and upspeeds of 1-1.2Mbps which is up from .2Mbps before the update. In short this update is awesome.

This is from the Motorola forums manager. On how to enable HSUPA if you are in the coverage area and still not getting "4g" improvements. Im going to try this soon.

Please try the following:

Go to Settings-->Wireless & networks-->Mobile networks-->Access point names

Touch the menu key and select Reset to default

These steps will force the phone to re-register with the cellular network. Give it about 30 to 60 secs to finish. Then launch browser and check if you have data access now.

"I notice that after I did this I believe a new network acces point poped up. "AT&T US HSDPA". Should this be selected for the higher data speeds?"

Yes select HSDPA

Hey sab3000.. Unfortunately a similar thing has happened to me.. successful install, tested skype over wifi and confirmed that it resolved the noise problem, for those who care about it...

but then when i wanted to a non-wifi speedtest, i noticed i have a broken connection. speed test gives me
269ms ping, -4kbps down (yes minus 4) 190kbs upload. i cant view any web pages.. located in manhattan, UES.

settings -> phone ->status shows:
...
signal strength: -66dBm ecno: -8 rat:3g
Mobile network type: HSPA
...

were you able to fix the problem, if so how ?

thanks..

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to resolve the issue and a factory reset did not help. I didn't go as far as to try any manual flashing, etc.

I'll likely just go back to the store I purchased from for an exchange it under warranty if they can't get it working.
