yes i had it off, i've read that part

I'm with the 2nd level tech support right now. they cant figure out what the issue is..... that really sucks.....
Well don't feel bad, mine won't work either. It doesn't find any update ever since my atrix rebooted itself in the middle of fiddling with WidgetsLocker (that lockscreen-changing app), and when it came back on it wouldn't boot past the "M" dual-core logo, kept talking about RSD and ****, which pissed me off since I hadn't ever rooted or anything at all. I was stock. So I was told to flash the SBF (I'm using terms I don't even know right now, btw), did that and ever since I'm just stuck on 4.1.5.2. The update that rolled us up to 4.1.83 or whatever never reached my phone, ever, either. I spent last night (when you were just beginning your problem in this thread) searching around XDA , here, and google in general, trying to soak in all this information, but I ended up getting so incredibly confused - I just fell asleep without even finishing! Woke up this morning and realized I still don't have GB. I'm usually tech savvy with computers and whatnot, and used to load custom OS's on my Blackberry all the time, but jesus this is a high-ass learning curve.
I assume I'm stock 4.5.2 or whatever, but in preparation for the GB update, I wanted to create a backup of all my homescreen setups and my system settings and everything. I read the only way to truly do this was through something called a nandroid backup. So I wanted to do that last night. Then I read you have to be rooted to do nandroid. So I rooted last night using some simple zip file (aRoot or something), took 15 seconds. Then apparently I have to something called CWM to use nandroid as well...and apparently CWM requires an unlocked bootloader? So I began reading up on flashing something called "pudding" to my device to unlock the bootloader. Then I realized, even if I do create a nandroid backup after unlocking my bootloader and rooting, the GB update won't even work if I'm not stock! Wtf,,,so why did I lose my "stock-ness" (lol) to do all this just so I can try and get GB without losing my homescreen setup and system settings and all!? ugh, the whole process is the biggest headache, and, again, I'm pretty tech savvy (though not Linux-savvy at all).
So, here I sit this lovely Saturday morning, with 4.1.5.2 Froyo 2.2.1, now rooted for no real reason I guess, except to help me NOT get GB OTA. I did install Titanium Backup which is pretty cool, even bought it last night (never search the market late at night. you buy things almost instantly whereas in the day, you think it through). It's nice though, but I don't understand how I'll even be able to use it if I somehow, god-willing, DO get GB OTA come July 26th. Because apparently I have to be unrooted, stock. But how can I use TIBackup if I'm not rooted ?
I'm just confusing myself some more. Sorry for hijacking the thread

Hope you're getting somewhere with Moto tech support. Time to do some laundry.
