Downloads on s7 edge

I was a long term iphone user and have just changed to samsung have downloaded photos from email and been advised they have been but where do i find them. I want to add them to the photos or gallery for viewing later.

Downloads in main directory

It would automatically be populated in the gallery app. However it is stored by default in internal memory, in the download folder.
