Ok so I've owned this thing for a month and a half now.
The thing about Android is its so configurable. Being unrooted not so much.
If not for my job (construction, not desk), my motorcyle and taking out the garbage, this dam thing is epoxied to my hand practically.
If I''m watching TV, I'll pick it up for no reason and flash a theme or change icons or wallpaper. I play with it in the car or even on the john. haha
Wife is always asking if I have to be on "that thing" so much?
Seeing that the iphone and WP7 are such closed platforms this probably is not as bad for them as it is for android.
On my previous dumbphone, I'd answer a call and after call just put it down till next call, no constant fiddling. My wallpaper stayed for months.
Maybe some veteran users can tell me if this compulsive behavior subsides. I suspect it would. (hopefully)
I've had new toys but this is getting ridiculous. lol

i have only been using a smartphones 6 months and its only gotten worse lol or better depending on how you look at it . Luckily my GF hands me her phone when im not working on mine :)

Yeah it's not going to get any better. I was sick for the last week and even though I barely got out of bed I was using my phone at least as much as I would have my PC in that time frame.

I know what you mean. My wife always asks me if I love the phone more than her. Lol. I have only been on it for about six weeks my self. So far I have to force myself to put it down.

"Well if the phone starts acting weird I can just wipe it and install a new rom....."
....
........

"That is to say, of course not honey!" ;)

In the john? Me too. Probably TMI but that's where I catch up on the posts on AndroidCentral! Also a good time to uninstall some unused apps, and some general housekeeping. I'll pick the phone up for no apparent reason at times, turn it on and off a couple times, and maybe send a text. It's always in my hand or in my pocket.

It doesn't get better?

ARG!

It really amazes me how one little tiny object changes ones thoughts and behavior so dramatically.

I know i cant imagine how i did without it ,,, and to top it off it also affected my behavior beyond the phone, i spend every extra minute here in the forums

Epic. That's me to a t. Heck right now I am on the phone, and on the forums. Nevertheless, "it's just a bleeping phone".

Android isn't the color of your skin its the way you think , the way you live!

High Five to whomever gets that reference lol

It's the freedom to be on the internet anywhere. I'm the same way with my phone. I'm watching the packers and surfing the web. Id never would have done this with my old dumb phone or even a laptop.

I left "dumb" phones about 2 1/2 years ago. I'm afraid that my preoccupation with my smart phones has not subsided. With my Fascinate, it's been even worse. Before I changed to Android, I was a fairly loyal BB guy and tinkered with my Stoms (1 and 2) quite a bit but there's only so much you can do with a BB. There is tons you can do with a rooted Android so needless to say, I've been on it a lot!

The fascinate is my first smartphone, and after only 5 weeks of ownership I have developed an addiction to it.

Some have said that the phone should be turned off while the battery is charging in order to keep the battery "healthy" as well as ensuring long battery life. If that is the case then I need to get a second battery with its own charger so that I can swap them out while continuing to use the phone.

Right now it's difficult to have the phone off long enough for it to charge. :D

I used to even make fun of crackberry users, saying I didn't get what the big deal was. Now I'm as bad or worse with my phone. A friend of mine makes fun of me now, but he just doesn't know.

I needs it, it's my precious.;)

edit- Oh an Davey, don't get Angry Birds either, or you'll really see what an obsession is.

I'm in agreement that the sheer amount of customization of Android is what sets it apart from iOS. I just wish there was a more uniform way to get updates to phones capable of running the newest version of Android.
