Since I got my 6p I've averaged 3+ hrs sot. Now I get under 2. I really hope the final build isn't this bad!

I would look into other factors here. I've been running preview 5 on my 6P since it dropped and I've seen a bit of a bump in overall battery performance. On 6.0.1, GSAM would estimate I could get 3.5h or so on a full charge, whereas in 7, it's showing over 4.... basically reclaiming about 30 minutes worth of power away from the idle drain due to the new version of Doze.

Most people I've heard from are getting great battery life from the the newest Android Nougat beta. My guess is you have a rouge app. First thing I'd try is to clear the phone's cache partition. If that doesn't help, then best bet is to reset the phone -- often when installing a new OS (any OS) some items will not upgrade properly and you'll need to start clean to fix them.

Yup, that's my opinion of developer preview 5 as well, great overall battery life.

Hyperbole...

I get that you want attention when you post a subject like that but come on now. The majority of people's experience is the opposite of yours. Heck. I am still MM and get way better battery life than that. It is definitely a rouge app at work here. Three hours is pretty crappy to begin with.

Why would I want attention? I give a crap what anyone thinks.... I'm looking to see if others are having this issue. So should I clean install dp5 before downgrading?

I just did the OTA download and it worked fine. I didn't sideload anything.

I think people are suggesting that most people are not having the same experience as you with this phone so there is likely an app that is causing your issue. Finding and deleting the bad app is all it should take to fix it.

Also keep in mind because it's a DP not all apps will support this OS and some may malfunction and give you the battery drain you are experiencing. Download gsam and find what is causing the issue.

I realize that's often the case. But I haven't installed an app since updating to dp5.

Must be getting a minimum of 10% increase in battery life on Nougat beta 5,probably more like 15%. Haven`t checked it exactly yet but deffo much better.

I saw this with my test unit after going from stock MM to DP5. I didn't clear the cache, just ran it straight after the upgrade. It was this result more than anything else that made me decide to dive in and trade out my Note 5.

Actually, GSAM isn't going to help, unless you are rooted. Nougat does not allow apps to "track" other apps -- so GSAM can only show battery use for all apps collectively, not for individual apps. From what I'm hearing, this is something done to improve security and their won't be a work around for the various battery usage apps.

Developers frequently build various trackers that help with debugging into beta versions. My impression is that most of the debugging code has been removed from this beta and that the code has been better optimized, leading to the performance gains.

The GSAM dev posted instructions on how to get full stat capture without root access. It's a simple matter of running a simple ADB command to grant the required permission. If you look up the GSAM beta page on Google+, he has the info.

I did a clean dp5 restore and I am still getting horrendous battery life. 1.5 - 2 hrs sot. Went back to m today and now I'm back up to where I was before.

Hmm. I seem to have lost 20 or so minutes SOT after updating. I'll try to ride it for now though

Same here. I used to get 16+ hours... Now, this:
