2.1 Update help

Hi fellas, I'm totally new to the Droid scene, (coming from a BB Storm ) i have had this phone for about 4 days, I'm having a lot of trouble doing the manual update maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong, my droid is currently 2.0.1 every time attempt to download the file (the update file) as the video on this site instructs i get this error <Cannot download. the content is not supported on this phone> Iam at a loss on what to do, any help would be appreciated,

Have you tried to download it to a computer, and then move it to the sd card? Might make it a little easier for you. I'm in the process of doing mine that way right now.

Download the file to the computer and then you have to put the file on the phone with the USB cord attached to your phone. You can do it from the if you download a file manager but its mug easier with the computer and takes about ten minutes tops.

manual update very easy to do

The manual update is very easy to accomplish and all steps are in the forum. There are some good things with the update but overall its so..so.

Nope, actually my battery life is BETTER than it was before.

No offense to you, but I am still baffled as to why people continue to wait for the OTA. It has been tried and trued that the update thats posted is official, and working like a charm. Safe yourself the hassle of the up to 20 day wait, and load it up tonight. You will be super happy once you touch that first live wallpaper, trust me.

Hmmm...it's a minor update to a smartphone OS, not a cure for cancer or a trip to the moon on gossamer wings.

It'll get here when it gets here, life as we know it will go on largely unaffected by the 2.1 update, and 20 minutes later, some will be clamoring for 2.2.

Minimally from what I saw. I noticed next to no worse battery life. Maybe the slight battery improvement that ESE81 is supposed to bring is just to offset the live wallpapers?

Did you watch the how to video from the front page where Phil showed us all how to do this? If you follow that you should be good to go!

Same reason if you watch both your local news stations weather reports they'll have different reports on temperature.


And if you live in a town that isn't 1 million plus people, Google won't post your local news, just not reported to them!

Upon second review, there is no "local" option for the news widget........................





So thats your problem
