This seems odd. I mean, you doing it yourself does the same as the OTA. Only difference, is you have to put a file in a location. Other than that, it's the exact same thing. What's there to worry about?

How about entering a password/PIN instead of tracing patterns? Every Droid user in my company despises this, typical comments "juvenile", "ridiculous", and some I won't repeat.

If they're uttering obscenities over an unlock pattern perhaps they're the juvenile ones.

Dunno what anyone was expecting out of this update. It had been known for like 1-2 months exactly what would be in it. We got what Motorola promised.

Video Playback Issues

I installed the 2.1 update. I was going through and checking out the new gallery and played a video and the playback is super super slow. The sound is perfect. Anyone else having this issue?

I agree, I think it's intuitive. I guess a choice between that and a pin entry would be fine. But hey, to each their own.

I deleted my yahoo and set it up again and notice that it uses a different imap and smtp address settings with android included in the address

Yes, any time I try to download anything, it fails. I have tried Google Earth, HelixLauncher, even tried older apps like RoboDefense Free. Same thing.

I had one issue on ONE program (out of 6)

I rebooted and it works fine.








Also on video playback, I have noticed 0 issues as of that.

Perhaps you where in the midst of downloading or installing a program?

Well my findings are this:

Had to rebuild all my Gallery indexes. Took quite awhile depending on how much pics/vids you have. Kinda funky how it tilts w/ the phone. Also some editing tools in gallery. Kinda neat.

Live wallpapers FTW.

I did notice my system being very slow for awhile.
My Foursquare 3x3 widget keeps wonking out twice already (within a span of 2hrs). Might need an update for this

News and weather Icon ? Will investigate more on this.
Droid dock has the nightlight/daytime mode button in the upper left hand corner.

Voice input FTW! When using this with txting its almost right on.
Battery life.. phew.. With rebuilding the indexes and flashing from 100% im down to almost 70% within 2hrs. Hopefully all this one time stuff drained the battery.


And i did the manual update that I found out there.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I am curious as to how you actually know that.

How are these unofficial updates vetted to ensure that they are, in fact, identical to the official OTA updates?
