DROID 2.1 Update thread.

I had this too, used the dpad to scroll down the menu and select update from sdcard and then it said the update file name wasnt found so I wiped it all off and tried it again with update location 2 and made sure the file name was correct acording to the instructions and it found it and it worked the last time. Took me about 7-8 tries. Just try again and from fresh with a new download zip file and put it in the folder when you mount the card on the computer. I'm new to this too so I hope that makes sense. LCH

I used my D-pad for the first time today!!! :D So glad they decided to include it in the design!

How did you go back to 2.0.1, did you flash the SBF (RSD Lite)? I would like to update just to see what the updates like, but want to make sure i can get back to my rooted ROM.

Exactly, sbf using rsdlite, which if anyone hasn't used, was so damned easy!

I'm new to posting (even though I've been a member for 3 months...)

-What I will say is that for a Droid newbie who is still scared to death to root, the manual update process was EASY! I can't imagine anyone waiting 15+ days to get the OTA when the process took about 10 minutes (including install time) and was seamless!

PS- I held volume up and then pressed camera and it worked the first time for me.

omg voice to text is on point & so is pinch to zoom & the news and weather widget. jeez loving this

well dxtop has 5 screens n do you know if helixlauncher will keep live wallpapers running?

helixlauncher will give you up to 7 screens, i am running at 5 currently with my live wallpaper and it gives you 4 icon slots on the bottom, that show on every page ;)

i set live wallpaper but when i lock my phone n go back to it later on it is back to the original wallpaper, could it be caused by dxtophome?

Same thing happens to me, but I've never had dxtop home.

Few other odd things here and there as well (like the notification light turning off when I come out of screen-lock). Kind of wishing now I had just waited for the OTA update and then declined it.

this is the EXACT file you will see with the OTA anyways. It wouldnt matter if you waited, or did what you did, same results would have followed.

Anyone know how to add a yahoo email account? All I see is Corporate and Google.

Do I just use Corporate?

I know. I'm not saying I wish I hadn't updated manually, just saying I wish I hadn't updated to 2.1 at all.

Question... Is this update am overlay or is it a complete wipe and restart? I'm not at home and work doesn't allow access to anything remotely non-work related

this thread has ballooned -- i lost it around the time the link was posted.

if i.. for some silly reason.. decide to ditch my fantastic rooted device and go to the OTA update, do I need to flash back to stock 2.0.1 first, THEN update, or can I apply the update.zip using SPRecovery I have from rooting?

I believe you have to go back to stock first

if you have rooted, and flashed another ROM you wont receive the OTA likely. You have installed a custom recovery probably, most of which block that update from coming to you. In order for you to update, you would have to revert to stock and update.

You could always use the .sbf and go back to 2.0.1 so you can flash to other roms and such if you wish, your not stuck

Has anybody tried the 2.0.1 .sbf on this. I was wanting to try 2.1ota, but was waiting to see if the .sbf worked because i wanted to make sure i could get back to root.
