DROID 2.1 Update thread.

Just got the 2.1 OTA update and so far so good. The only issue I seem to be having is when I use pinch to zoom in the browser the text doesn't auto reformat. However if I press zoom out/in it works just fine. Anyone else having this problem? Sorry if this has already been posted.

This is dependent on what website you are on.


99% of the time if it is "mobile optimized" site, it will auto format the page to the size of your device and won't auto refresh itself once zoomed.

I updated too and it went great. Now that the ota is being sent out I'm wondering if I should go back to 2.0 to get the official version.

I installed 2.1 successfully. Problem is, no Google Earth icon appeared. I also checked Market but nowhere to be found. Anyone have this issue? Any suggestions on where I might find it? thanks

It shows up in the market when i search for it. I've seen alot of posts on here having the same issue as you. I don't have any answers though.

There is no need to go back to get the official because there will be no change the 2.1 you put on is the same.

No on "mobile optimized" sites, you can't pinch zoom at all. I see the same issue mentioned earlier, the stock browser doesn't fit text to the screen after pinch zooming but does do it if you use the zoom buttons. This is a pain as Dolphin would reformat after pinch zooming once you scrolled the screen a bit. I like the stock browser's visual bookmarks and lack of ads better, but we'll have to see if I can handle the zooming...

I did but for some reason when i did it on my phone i clicked "official location 1" & it said error this download doesnt support your phone.

I'm in the Chicago area and got the OTA update last night. You'll probably get yours soon. I didn't want to load it manually.

Generic, I know about the star. My problem is that it has never worked. It'll turn yellow, but doesn't put the contact into faves. Return to it, and it's not yellow.

One more minor gripe, I thought Flash was supposed to come in the 2.1? Flash sites still don't work.

Flash is a separate update altogether, and based, I believe, solely when adobe is ready

If it's done by location I got mine in Philly.

I doubt it's location - its most likely run off of some serial number system that only motorola and verizon knows or cares about.

thanks-- but when you search Market, do you find the actual Google Earth App? I find only google earth blog, and gps2 googleEarth.

If you just updated within the last couple hours, give it some time (like a few hours). The market does not instantly update what it shows according to your platform version.
