Droid 2 Keyboard freezing

I am having the same problem. Just started yesterday and its driving me nuts. It seems like the trigger is the space key and it happens in text and email both on screen and keyboard. calendar functions work but just tried to add THIS new id and pssd into notes and froze up ...help!

I have been having the issue the last 2 days. I turned off some settings in the keyboard (auto correct) and it seems to work so far.

Go to settings/application /manage applications /all tab scroll down to the keyboard app, and you can reset the keyboard. You might lose saved words in the dictionary.

When you say "reset" the keyboard app under manage applications, do you mean "clear data" and "clear cache" or do you mean "force close"? Thanks in advance.

My friend is having the same problem on his Droid 2 Global and he's gotten 2 replacements from Verizon to fix the problem and it keeps happening on every replacement and he's getting frustrated.

OMG! I threw my phone on the floor I was so mad. I couldnt figure it out either but I just(about 5 mins ago) cleared the data for the Mulit-touch Keyboard and it is working fine now. Go into your SETTINGS and then into APPLICATIONS then MANAGE APPLICATIONS tap the ALL tab and scroll down and tap MULTI-TOUCH KEYBOARD and the CLEAR DATA and the box is going to ask you if you want to clear and blah blah and hit YES and it should work! Good Luck to you because my next move was going to be throwing this thing at the wall!

I went to settings/application /manage applications /all tab scroll down to the keyboard app, I cleared the Cache of the keyboard and it fixed the problem.

The solution above worked! I was having keyboard freeze problems, especially in my work e-mail account, after I typed the word "the", so this was kind of a major problem. It's solved now though!

THANK YOU!!!!!! I had this problem in November and took it to Best Buy to have them repair the problem. They gave me a refurbished phone and yesterday the SAME thing happened. Done with Best Buy, I did a search here to see if anyone else was having the same problem with their Droid 2, and thank goodness someone figured out how to REPAIR the issue! Thank you!! Thank you!!

I have to do this every so often myself...I notice when my cache hits 265k, thats when the issue pops up....Its only happened since the Gingerbread update I received back in October I believe. Its not a big issue but I hope a patch is forthcoming...

Glad I found this thread, my daughter was having issues with her phone for months and I was ready to buy a new one, cleared the keyboard and everything is fine now.

Thanks to all that posted the suggestion and indicated success.

I am running Gingerbread on a Droid 2 and have tried the fix suggested in this thread by all of you, but the phone is still acting the same. Are there any other ideas on how to fix this?

When you do this:

Go into your SETTINGS and then into APPLICATIONS then MANAGE APPLICATIONS tap the ALL tab and scroll down and tap MULTI-TOUCH KEYBOARD and the CLEAR DATA

Do you lose anything else like pics/videos? Or anything other than the words saved in dictionary? Thx!!

No, it only clears things pertaining to the keyboard.

If you have updated to the System Version 4.5.601 and Android Version 2.3.3(Setting/About Phone) it is now "Settings/Application/Manage Applications/All tab/Multi-touch keyboard/Clear data" I did this and it seems to have fixed the problem. I just hope its a permanent fix. Hope this helps!

Sweet! My phone had been doing this for the past few days...extremely annoying.

This worked like a charm. Easy fix.

Thanks!
