Droid 2?!

I have completed a thread search and could not find an answer.

I am ready to jump ship from Blackberry to an Android platform.

I really like the Moto Droid platform with slide-out key board however the keyboard sucks I.M.H.O.

Is there a new version of that phone in the works?

I read all the posts on the shadow this.. Xtreme that.. ninja bear with laser eyes that... Unfortunatly most of what I read shows a device without a slide-out keyboard.

Anyway I hope someone out there can give me some insight. Otherwise I will probably settle for just the increadable or the Xtreme.

The Droid 2 will have a slide out keyboard and its been labled as an "improvement" over the current one.

Shadow does not have a keyboard.

The Droid doesn't have the best keyboard, but you do get use to it after awhile. I still prefer to use the slideout keyboard over the touchscreen one.

Yeah the Droid 2 is rumored to be the Droid Xtreme. Look for that.

You know I follow Android and Droid news an awful lot, but Im so confused by all the talk of the Shadow, Xtreme, and Droid 2. Am I correct in assuming the Droid 2 is the Xtreme and the Shadow is a new phone in its own right?

the xtreme and the shadow are the same phone. but the droid 2 is different. i look at it like this, the xtreme is motorola's answer to the incredible and the Droid 2 is just an upgraded droid that i hope will be released soon. there are rumors about a Droid Pro coming out at the end of the year which is what im hoping for. but the xtreme is not the droid 2. it's just motorola's way of keeping up with the competition. i'm not saying that i am 100% correct but from everything that i have been reading online it, it brings me to that conclusion.

OK, that makes sense. Personally I am not going to be switching phones until a new Droid is released. I love the Droid and really only see a few things that could be improved. It would be awesome if the new Droid had a better keyboard (which everything I've read seems to say it will), a front facing camera, and a faster processor. Also more stock homescreens. But other than that... I couldn't be happier with this phone.

Thank you for the replies. I will hold off then untill the Droid Pro/second sen Droid comes out. I will stick with my freezeberry untill then or untill i can find a good shape used Droid on craigs list! Just cant allow myself to pay full price from something that isnt perfect for me.

From what I have heard is that the droid 2 will be the same size but just enhanced (processor, memory, features etc ) the droid pro will have a 4.x size screen and slide out QWERTY. I'm assuming better hardware. I think this will be Motorola's and Verizon's new flag ship once released. This is THE phone I'm waiting for when I upgrade from the Droid.

I would like to know if anyone has any Leaked info on the new device. Such as model number and whatnot is the Droid 2 model number A955? Kind of anxious to know.

The droid pro is a rumor at this point but with HTC's evo being the new beast android phone, if motorola made a device with that big of a screen with a slide out qwerty keyboard it would have the edge. No doubt about it. The keys would be easier to type as well.

If it is the same thickness as the Droid then I would love it. I don't think I could ask for a better phone than that.

Since both Droid 2 and Shadow have showed up in Verizon's systems then we know it is not far off. As for OS6, it is a joke anyway so it won't affect much for sales. All OS6 is, is a webkit browser and a theme enhancement. Same underlying buggy code and tired old look. What RIM does is games. Android delivers.
