DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Putting an ogg file in the /system/media/notifications doesn't work anymore for custom notifications anymore.. where do we put them now?

Well I guess I'm screwed. Voodoo shows I'm rooted. Super user shows I'm rooted but it won't update the binary. Using es file explorer I can get to the root directory but when I install titanium backup it says I'm not rooted. Already updated to jb.

Steve

Thats what happened to me, then I messed messed with Voodoo and unrooted and screwed myself. Good luck. Hope someone knows how to help. I updated my binary before I jumped to jb, I don't know where I went wrong.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any non-root wifi tethering app I can use for my Nexus 7 besides FoxFi? I guess I can pay for it but it runs wonky on my phone so I'm not excited about that. But I guess thats what I get for loosing my root.

Open Garden uses a Bluetooth mesh network. It actually works pretty well.

Yeah, I should go back to that for now. I used to use it before I rooted. Only prob is that lot's of Apps don't check to see if your really connected or not. Thanks for the reminder!

I got the ota update and it said the update was successful. Now I am getting a com.android.phone error every 5 seconds.....I have never done anything crazy with my phone, no rooting (I believe that's the term......) I noticed another person saying they did a factor reset and it fixed the problem.... the only issue is my phone won't do a factory reset now..... any suggestions are greatly appreciated as my phone is not usable right now other than turning on wifi and dismissing that error every 5 freaking seconds. Please help

*****Update: OK I was able to update Google search on the play store..... then the phone let me do a factory reset..... what a pain but its fixed.

I Installed the Bionic OTA JB update but I left the Bionic rooted when I applied the update. Everything worked great, downloaded the update, installed it and it rebooted and it hung on the Red Eye. I left it there for an hour but all it did was heat up the phone.
Anyone know how to recover from this?

Just received my update and downloading. Not rooted so I don't have to worry about that. Hope it doesn't screw up my phone.

Small tweak, but the annoying shutter sound when taking a screenshot is gone :)
Weird...it's still there for me. Using the volume-down and power buttons? Definitely still there.

4.2.2 is also possible because it uses same kernel....
I was under the impression that different API levels (16 for 4.1, 17 for 4.2) require different kernels, though I could definitely be wrong.

Well I am having a huge problem I did a nandroid backup using bootstrap and it completed the backup which is on my ext sd card the problem is my phone wont boot I got a screen that says encryption unsuccessful and tells me to reset phone but the phone wont reset. It just keeps going back to the same screen I need help I don't want to FXZ and lose root if possible. Is there a way to get into CWM recovery and restore my backup.

You posted this literally right after my post saying not to do this? Sigh. A huge problem is right. You've no idea how much so. You'll be taking a trip through the house of bionic to get a working phone and you WILL lose root in the process. I'll post exact instructions a bit later.

You... Go back a few pages and find the post where I quote a very long list of instructions for fixing a partial root scenario. It should get you back to full root.

I want you to open an adb shell from the command prompt and give me the results of this command:

ls -al /system/usr/we-need-root

FINALLY - been checking every hour or so for the OTA update to push, and i've finally gotten it. was getting jealous of seeing everyone partake in the JB goodness. stock, launch day bionic. terrible problems with slowdown and battery life over the past couple of months. i was ready to throw in the towel but hopefully JB gives me a few more solid months with this phone
Confirmed, last night. :)
