Droid DNA update

That shouldn't happen at all, before or after the update. I get them weekly here now before the update (and we'll AFTER the update that was supposed to fix them).

The SIM card problems are caused by a "defective" SIM card tray, you can try requesting a new one from HTC, or, you can just put some tape on the back of your SIM card to force the connection to be tighter.

Agree 100%. Unless you are a die hard stock HTC user it's a step back in many ways. Lock screen deletions suck, I miss the ring, messaging is back to the bad old days of having fits with anything MMS from iPhones - only now it seems to even effect the messaging apps(like Go, etc), not just the stock one. Notification pane has links to common settings but my beloved power toggles no longs toggles - just displays the buttons so it's 2 steps to main settings now.

I hate to be that guy who doesn't appreciate company(s) supporting older products but I would definitely go back if I could. I see no improvements in anything I use.

Is there a way to revert???

For those of you who haven't been able to get the update yet I would have to say, I'm a day and a half in and I'm not too impressed. I don't want to sound negative but in some ways I liked the previous version better.

Couple things I've noticed:

-I always thought my DNA was pretty quick so I can't say I see an improvement in speed.

-I don't like the new lock screen which is pretty limited, maybe it's just me but I liked the unlock ring and the weather lock screen and they're both gone. Can't seem to customize the theme either. Feels like they took a step back there.

-So far my battery life has drained pretty quick both days.

-You can't cycle back around through the screens it hits the end and you have to go back.

Like I said, I don't like being negative but so far the update isn't awesome.

On the 2 step to setting if u use two fingers to swipe down the notification bar it takes you to the toggled settings

Really?! So it's a physical issue and not a software one....

The only thing not working correctly after the update is my phone won't wirelessly charge while off. It will on but not off. Curious. Oh, and no email sound notification, but I hear that's with everyone.

Agree with you on everything except on the performance of the phone. My DNA is faster now but lost some really nice features that I used to impress my friends with.

Which app are you using for your power toggles? I'm using Notification Bar Deluxe, and it still works the same as it always did. And unfortunately, I don't think there's any way to revert, other than rooting. Even then, from what I understand, the process of going from 4.2 to 4.1 is a little more involved than just flashing a ROM, but I might be wrong about that since I haven't tried it yet.

I noticed that too, open email go to settings and turn notification sound back on. Strange how the update switched it silent. The choice of sounds looks to be less also. Jmo

Ciao

Power Toggles - and it's weird because they look normal, are able to be configured normally, they just don't do anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. It's not that big a deal, I'm sure I'll get used to the new toggles or find an app that works. I'll take a look at Notification Bar, thanks. At this point I'll just plow forward. It wouldn't be worth hours of messing to go backwards even if it were possible.

What features are those? I haven't noticed anything missing that I actually used.
I think the new UI is much nicer looking, and more mature. The texting app looks loads better for one, and the weather and clock widget works great. I also haven't noticed any negative change in battery life, mine may actually be better than before.

The only thing I really miss is being able to double tap the menu key (I think...how could I forget so fast?!) to show all my home screens at once, I used this all the time to jump between screens instead of spinning.

My 2c..

To me, my DNA feels faster now and I didn't think that was possible because it was already lightning to begin with. My battery life seems to have improved, which was a nice surprise. I didn't think I would like the new calendar but I am a fan of that now too. Although, I think I still like google calendar better. I am still getting used to blinkfeed. I have enjoyed it so far, I just dont know if it's enough for me to want to keep it on. Before that I was just using play newsstand which I still like better. I think the stock messaging app is worlds better. It had some lag for me before (bringing up keyboard and taking a couple secs to send the message after I hit the send button) and its still there which is a bummer, but as far as I can tell it seems to be the only place anything lags. Overall UI design I think is fantastic. I love most of the new app icons and widgets.

TL;DR
IMO the phone runs smoother and looks better with new features I enjoy. For the most part I am a happy camper :D

I will probably keep sense 5 as my default launcher for a while now and keep nova on the back burner.

To me the phone seems much faster and smoother.... my stock message app doesnt lag as much anymore either. One thing i dislike is that all my notification tones either disappeared or changed. My old alarm tones are no longer available so i have to wake up to a different sound, and the notification sounds i used for individual email addresses changed and arent available anymore.

The icons and toolbars seems so much bigger too and take up much more space on my screen. I liked having a smaller toolbar across the top that fit more info, now it feels cluttered.

overall i think it was a great upgrade that ill get used to. When kitkat finally gets release it will offer the ability to switch home launchers, so ill mess around with that when the time comes.

What was going wrong with yours.

It told me there was an update and I tried to do it, but the progress bar went about 70% of the way then stopped. It took several restarts and shutdowns and then the small update worked. Then with the larger update it wouldn't start the dl. I restarted then it started but the progress bar was not moving. So I had to restart and shutdown a few times and then bam, it went through and now it works great.

Yes, 2 pieces of tape fixed my problem. Try 1 piece 1st, and, if that doesn't fix it, then try a 2nd piece. I had SIM card issues for quite a while, but, I have not had any more problems after applying the tape. YMMV

I forgot about this. The first morning with my new alarm (didnt know it would be different) scared the crap out of me. It was way louder and less relaxing of a tune. I was ready to rip the plug from the wall and throw it. Also, it woke up my infant son in the bassinet which I wasn't happy about.

Yeah, Im love the update. I like finally have quick settings in the pull down bar. Overall I like the look everything took on. Its a much cleaner looking UI. Theres a few tweaks here and there Im trying to readjust to, but in the end, it is a really nice update. Phone runs even smoother now. I will be happy with this phone for an even longer time now at this rate.

I agree, especially since I did a factory reset. Feels like a new phone.

I'm not loving the new ringtones and notification sounds. I miss my old ones. Also these new ones don't seem to be as loud as before.

Oh, here's a question. Can phone volumes and notification volumes be maintained separately now?
