droid files folders?

am i missing something or are we not able to view the folders theat are saved on the phone for an example i downloaded an exe file... is there a way to view all these folders from the phone for some reason its bothering me that i cant veiw the file folders or i just cant find them on my phone does anyone know an answer to this ...thanks
