I've been searching (if it's there and I missed it, my apologies) and can't find out if this is doable.

Is there a way to make the Droid automatically go into USB mode when placed in the dock? It takes way too many steps to turn on as is. I have the Auto-mount/USB widget thing, but that really only reduces the steps by 1 (down to 5).

What are your 5 steps? I count only 3 in my head after the Droid is docked.

1 swipe down notification bar.
2 touch USB notice
3 touch mount.

1-Power butn to turn on screen
2-Swipe unlock
3-Home butn
4-Swipe taskbar
5-Usb connected button
6-Mount butn

I know, seems like a petty thing to complain about, but it's kind of annoying mainly because the only button that unlocks the phone on the dock is the Power button, which is not conveniently placed for dock usage.

I'm going to delve into the SDK.. see if I can come up w/ something.

the way the milestone mounts lets you have it automatically mount the SD card, you can try out the sholes.info rom if you want, as they have integrated that into the ROM.

just keep in mind, if you use notification/ringtone sounds from the sd card, once you mount it, you won't hear those anymore until you unmount.
