Droid Maxx 4.4 Fix coming within "Days"

I guess I should feel pretty lucky. I got the KK update and have had no problems at all.

I don't know if this means anything but does the fact droid zap just got updated show the fixed update is almost ready to go or is actually rolling out. It is a thought buy mostly I am reading into nothing and over analyzing it.

I am so sorry I updated my Note 2 to 4. 3. I don't think I will update my wife's perfect Droid Maxx for at least 6 months. There, now I don't care when Verizon gets around to releasing it.

I would assume that the newer build would be pushed to people already on KK. I am one of those people that am on KK and have had loads of problems with KK.

I doubt it. The new update appears to be the same as the old update. It looks like they just changed the update script to deal with the bricking problem.

Hopefully the 4.4.2 update goes more smoothly. We'll see when/if we get it...

I got the kit kat ota today on my Maxx here in WA. Everything is good so far some icons are different and the lock unlock sound is different. I ran a quadrant test and it scored a 8590. I haven't played with the phone much yet but so far its all good.

I just got the OTA update for KK. After installing the KK update, My phone hung for an hour at "finishing Boot". I then rebooted phone manually & now it sits forever on the graphic red circle boot screen & doesn't go any farther. Anyone have any idea's on fix or is it time to go to Verizon and get new phone...? If this SUX horrifically!!!

Were you rooted before you installed the update?

Wow, that stinks. Sounds like your phone got bricked. I'd take it to verizon. Very disappointed to hear they haven't resolved the issue. I'm not upgrading if they push it to my phone.

I figured out the problem... I was using Next 3D Launcher as my default launcher. I had to boot the phone into safe mode by turn on the phone then when the Motorola logo comes on push and hold volume down button (for up to a minute) this will bring it up in safe mode. go into system settings, then apps. select the launcher app and clear the defaults for it. This stops it from being the default launcher and now phone comes up normally. AWESOME!!:D

That's great. Glad you were able to fix your phone. I'm still nervous about upgrading. The battery issue and apps not working properly is reminding me of when my bionic updated to ICS. I don't need those issues again.

The battery issue isn't all that much on an issue on the Maxx with its large battery. The worst than I have seen is about 1% more drain per hour than under JB, and most days it is less than that. Unless you were ending the day with a phone at less than 20% normally under JB, you will be fine.

I updated to KitKat last night. My battery is worse. I charged all night. Got up, it was 100%. 6 hours later I'm at 51%. I've never had it perform this bad. In battery heading it says "Google play services 51%" WTF. Phone is physically hot. I just got rid of a POS Thunderbolt. It would do the same thing. So effin bummed right now. I should of know better than to update to a new OS so fast. Answers to questions: no I haven't used it any differently. At the end of a typical day my battery is around 69%-74%. Other than icons in my stock messaging app. I see no differences. Except my battery, but that's a downgrade.

How much screen time?

How much screen time?

Screen time is 2h 24m. Brightness is set to auto. I don't like brighter screens, they give me headaches. Since my last post my battery is now at 48%. Going to try my 3rd restart of the day now.

Give it a week, things will settle down. I had the same awful battery drain for about a week, then it gradually righted itself. I'm back to my 30 hour Maxx as I had before the update now. If you continue after about a week, try a soft reset.

Thanks for the suggestion. Turns out it's the version of Google play services. 4.0.34 is bad (that's what I have) 4.1.31 is the new. I'll download the apk tonight.
