Droid MAXX Bug Thread

No, but I tried Clock Plus, which didn't dim the buttons, but I wasn't very patient. I'm going to try it again to see if it dims the buttons if I give it a few minutes.
It might just take some time for devs to work with it and come up with options to change the colors not light up the entire screen when you touch it, because who wants that when you're laying in bed and just trying to see the time?

I too had "resume music play" selected in driving mode, and the phone would start playing my most recent song - even though I had turned off Google Music and had not been playing anything for some time. I've deselected that option.

As for reading texts, I'm not getting anything and am hoping it is because I use Handcent instead of the stock text app. Is anyone else using Handcent or another text app?

The reason I ask about the camera is because my GNex will return directly to the camera if it was put to sleep with the camera active.

It seems like a pretty simple thing, and I wasn't sure if it was an Android feature or phone-specific feature.

No need to be a smartass.

I have found a funny bug. If you send an SMS using touchless control and google now , IE "Ok google now send a txt msg to <name> saying <msg>" it will send two identical msgs.

I cant make mine send a message "touchless". I always have to TOUCH the screen to send. Am I doing something wrong?

This is a google now bug. My wife sends me double texts from her DNA

I swear I can only get Google Now to work about half the time. Part of it, I feel, is that the VR engine sucks. It was great on my Bionic, but here it misses half the words, after a few tries I just give up and type in what I'm trying to do. The other thing is that I need a real tutorial. I wish it would just give me a good list of commands instead of 4 or 5 examples. And you can tell they half-assed it on the examples when they're things like "Send Text to #BAL I'm home now" or "Schedule a meeting with #PMT". They had to have seen that when they were programming the Help Me cards and no one thought to say "Hey, we should exclude the preprogrammed VZW numbers from the help menu, because who's going to send a text to #PMT?"

I like the phone, but there's a ton of bugs to work out and hopefully some of them will get ironed out in 4.2.3 which we'll hopefully see in the next month or so.

Oh, and my Daydream Clock didn't work again last night, never even turned on.

Same here

You're not doing anything wrong--unfortunately that's the way Google Now handles text messages. It also loses any punctuation you throw in there (.,?!, etc...). This is the case on all phones that have Google Now capability. Hopefully they can update it to perform like the calling feature and automatically send.

I confirmed that timely does dim the buttons when in daydream.

When editing a photo the "auto color" option doesn't work. When you click save it kicks you out of the edit screen and doesn't save the new photo.

2 more:
1)I had this problem on my Bionic as well. I have the Photobucket app installed. About half the time I hit the 'share' button on a picture, I don't get the Photobucket option and when it is there it's always in some random place.

2)I was using Chrome to browse a VB board and noticed the sizing is really wonky. On my Bionic I didn't use Chrome, I didn't like it, I always preferred the built in browser to everything else I tried so I can't say if that problem happened there before. I know I can use Tapatalk, but it's so plain it seems like all the personality is stripped from the conversation. Anyways, some of the posts are so tiny I can't read them and some are so huge they take up a ton of screen space.
Here's a screenshot of a random thread. At first I was thinking it's posts with quotes and posts from the OP that are big and bold, but it just seems to be random.

Had a new one last night. I'm guessing I'm not the only person who's had Daydream mode only sort of work.
I have it set to go into daydream mode (with the clock) when it's plugged into the charger. It took me some playing to find out that it doesn't actually do it for about 5 minutes. Last night, I plugged it in and fell asleep. Some time during the night I woke up and looked at my phone only to notice the clock seemed brighter then it should have been and the buttons at the bottom were still lit up. I touched the screen because I know that dismisses the daydream mode and then hit the power button to turn it off and it never went back to day dream mode as far as I could tell.
Checking the settings, it is still set properly.

I've looked around for a third party app, but haven't been able to find one that just shows a dim clock AND turns off the icons at the bottom (which are bright and defeats the purpose). I'll keep looking.

Also, I really don't like that it goes away when you touch the screen since I have to move/pick up the phone to see the time when I'm in bed and it's hard to do that without lighting it up. I might as well just not use the daydream mode and stick with the active notifications that will give me the time (dimly) when I pick up the phone.

If I could find a wireless charge that held the phone angled towards me like a dock and the daydream mode worked properly, that would be perfect.

Pretty sure I have your answer -

Check out this nokia qi charger. I use it every night, works perfectly with the maxx in portrait and with the nexus 7 in landscape.

I'll keep an eye on that, but for right now, $66 is more then I want to spend on a charger.

Two more things.
1)My alarm just went off for no apparent reason. I dismissed it and checked and none of the alarms are set for 5:49pm and I certainly wouldn't have set one for that time on purpose and I haven't played with it recently so I have no idea what happened there. I've had problems with this alarm (as long as I've had JB on this phone, my Bionic and my Nexus tablet) not going off. At least I'll swear it didn't go off so I've always had a second alarm (with a capcha) for back up. Far too many mornings, the second alarm will wake me and I'll have no knowledge of the first (stock) alarm going off. I honestly don't beleive it works.

2) The "People" icon from the bottom disappeared. There's just an empty space between Phone and menu button. I just put it back, but I'm pretty sure I didn't delete it.

Got another one. I hope it's not just me with a crappy phone and that there's others out there having these problems. I was on my way somewhere and I looked up at my dash and noticed my phone hadn't paired with the car. When I got to my destination I was going to take a look and see if I could figure out what was going on. When I unlocked my phone I noticed that the bluetooth icon was missing so I slid over to the Power Bar widget and found that Bluetooth and GPS were off. Unless I did it by accident, I didn't turn either of those services off. I NEVER EVER turn bluetooth off, for any reason, and with this battery I'm giving GPS a shot to see how much Google can think for me with the cards (it would be nice if the cards and the moto command center got the weather feed from the same place so they didn't have different temps displayed).

Anyways, if I turned them off by accident, then it was my fault, but I thought I'd toss this out there to see if it's happened to anyone else.

I had WiFi shut off once and Bluetooth disappeared for a while today for less than a minute while paired. Not enough to convince me to go back to the gnex!

I have to ammend my earlier post - while i initially was able to get my Maxx to charge with this charger, I have had difficulty getting it to maintain good contact since i got home this afternoon and have been playing with it. Can't figure out what the problem is, but the charging keeps cutting in and out - frustrating.

I also noticed (after re-reading this thread) that when i CAN get it to charge for more than a minute or two at a time, the capacitive buttons DO NOT turn off. My charger is a little ways across the bedroom, so it's no big deal to me, but if you're looking to keep the phone at your bedside i can see how they may be too bright.

It still works perfectly (both in terms of maintaining charging contact and, of course, with the on-screen buttons shutting off during daydream) with my Nexus 7 in landscape mode, but I'm going to keep searching for the best solution for the Maxx.

Hope i didin't lead anyone astray with my earlier post - I'll keep working on it and report back if i come up with a better solution. Still loving the Maxx, though.

Has anyone had their Droid Maxx shut off randomly. This has happened twice so far. Both times, there was plenty of battery (over 50%).
