Droid MAXX Bug Thread

I confirmed that timely does dim the buttons when in daydream.

Does it take a few minutes to dim the buttons? I have tried Timely in daydream but the buttons stay bright. Is there a setting in Timely I might be missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have mine set for night time dim setting. I'm not at home right now to test it without that setting on.

Thanks for the reply. I have the night time dim set as well but the buttons stay on. Also, it will not rotate into landscape while in daydream. Not sure what I need to change to get this to work.

I've never had daydream work in landscape from the home screen. Try opening up chrome or the android settings menu (something that does rotate into landscape) then let daydream start. You should get landscape then.

Also about the capacative buttons, are your screen settings set to never dim or turn off while plugged in? That may make a difference.

I have found a funny bug. If you send an SMS using touchless control and google now , IE "Ok google now send a txt msg to <name> saying <msg>" it will send two identical msgs.

Mine is doing this too and it's maddening. The primary reason I bought this phone was for that feature. I have done 4 factory resets the past two days using different Google accounts trying to track the problem down to no avail.

I get to the point, sometimes, when the MAXX finds the recipient and types the text, but it doesn't send it and prompts me to select "send". Isn't there a command to send it?

Thanks for the information. I do have the display set to turn off after 2 minutes and it does completely turn off while charging. Not sure why the buttons are not dimming.

Last night mine went into day dream mode properly, then at some point the buttons came back on. I wasn't even looking that way, but I could tell because the room was lit up.

Today I found a text message I never got. The same person sent me another one and I saw a previous one I hadn't received. Something prompted me to click on the actual message to see if I could get more detail out of it and it showed something interesting: Sent:6:30pm Received:5:30pm (the sender is in my time zone btw). Somehow there must have been a glitch somewhere along the way and I'm guessing it caused the alert not to go off. Maybe.

Next one: Is there any reason the alarm app (the built in one) keeps repopulating with alarms? I delete all of them but the one I need and there's one or two new ones (for random times) every day until it gets back up to four.

Not just two. I figured out what is causing this. If you leave the window open, it will keep sending the text message over and over untill you back out of the window. So back out quickly.

During active notifications after it fades back out it seems like there is a weird light coming from the display almost like the backlight of the display stays on and then shuts off anyone notice that

Got another one for everyone. I've mentioned a few times that I don't think my alarm sounds in the morning. In fact, as soon as I got Jelly Bean on my Bionic I didn't think it was regularly going off. So, today, I needed to set an alarm for one hour away. I used OK Google Now to do it and when I returned to the home screen I saw a little blue line appear under the alarm clock in the command center. That seemed odd, I hadn't noticed it before, but if it was indicating an alarm, it should have already been there, right. So, that alarm went off and the little line went back to gray. I waited a while, wondering if maybe the line doesn't turn blue unless the alarm is set to go off within a given amount of hours (4?6?8?). Never did turn on (it's a little over 6 hours away right now). I just went an turned my morning alarm off and back on and the line turned blue. That makes me wonder if the alarm wasn't going to go off in the morning.

When I had my Bionic I was in the habit of turning my alarm off and back on each night before I went to bed to make sure it would go off in the morning and then using a back up alarm out of the app store just in case.

So if you let it slip into day dream while the phone is unlocked, the buttons stay lit. On mine at least, if I press the power button to turn the screen off and lock it then turn the screen back on (but don't unlock it) it then enters daydream without the capacative buttons lit.

I had the charge issue last night. Phone was plugged in for 7 hours and only charged 20%.

Have you let it run that way for a while or did you just test it for a few minutes? Every time the buttons on mine don't turn on, they end up turning on a few minutes later. I've found just tapping on the screen takes it out of day dream mode and shuts everything off. Since I have to pick up the phone to see the time anyways, the AN works just fine and the daydream mode is become too much of a hassle. I'm going to shut it off.

What I'd like to see is a DayDream mode that didn't light up the buttons AND required the power button to make it stop since it's kind of silly (IMO) that touching the screen lights it up or stops that mode since it defeats the purpose and ends up blinding you if you have to move the phone to look at it (as I do). In which case, just letting the AN tell you the time (and not light up the screen if you touch it) works much better).
As I've said before, I think if you give it some time, some apps will show up that will do a much better job of handling this.

I will give that a try. Thanks!!

I'm having the same issue. I downloaded Timely and bought the paid version, but the capacitive buttons still stay on. I access Timely from settings>display>daydream>start daydream now and the capacitive buttons remain on. I'm new to 4.2.2 so maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Interesting, I tried it your method and the buttons were off when I turned on the screen (after locking it), but when it entered daydream the buttons turned on... So it sounds like it's a daydream setting

Has anyone had their Droid Maxx shut off randomly. This has happened twice so far. Both times, there was plenty of battery (over 50%).

My phone rebooted itself the other day but nothing since then.
