Droid MAXX Bug Thread

Here's one I haven't heard from before. I had to turn Touchless Control off. More than once, my phone just started "talking" and the screen was on Google Now. Somehow it thought I said "OK Google Now". I tried retraining it, no help. It has happened in my shirt pocket, sitting on the table behind my desk while I was on the phone, and once when I was watching TV. When I was on the phone, the person on the other end asked me who that was, and I said my phone just started talking to me.

I've taken my phone out of my pocket more than once to see it powered on to the home screen. I know that I didn't touch the power button.

Yesterday I was carrying the phone in my hand as I walked down the stairs. I had my thumb in the upper left corner of the display. I did see the active notification screen "breathe" a couple of times - then watched the screen power on to my pattern lock screen. I definitely did not touch the power button. There was no sound in the house, and when unlocked it went right to the home screen, so it wasn't Touchless controls.

I've also noticed that when you try to share two photos via the messaging app it will throw an error that the message is too large. If, while in messaging, you hit the paperclip and select slide show then try to select two photos, when it gets back to messaging it gives a message too large error. That's just brain dead, stupid programming, really.

I have a problem in random areas with my screen noticing I am touching it. For example in chrome when I first open the app I cannot touch the address bar to type in an address. I cannot always tap on the messages and notifications icons in the Facebook app. I found out today I cannot turn on/off wireless display since the toggle is located at the top of the screen like the other issues I listed.

Abu ideas?

Let me take a stab at this and see if we have the same issue. Are you using the device one handed? I notice that issue more often than when I use two hands.

If my defender case is on it doesn't do it because the raised edge keeps my palm from running over and touching the display.

It's not an issue of my Palm or other part touching the screen since the issue occurs even when the phone is resting on a table. I know the screen isn't broken since this dead spot at the top only occurs in certain situations like the ones I posted but will respond just fine in other situations such as when pressing the talk to text icon in the Google search bar which is in the same location as the on/off toggle for wireless display.

I can't get my DMaxx to stay connected to my moga pro controller. It syncs and knows the controller exists but when I open for example modern combat 4. The sync is lost. Is this something widely known?

I don't know if this is really a bug but when sending texts the last text is always blocked by my input bar (where you press to open the keyboard) and I have to manually scroll down a little to read the last text.

Anyone experience this?

I get the same exact thing every time

Does anybody have issues with the long press to initiate cut/copy and paste?

On many screens containing text - while I'm in various apps - but often email or Evernote, I'll long press, and it will not elicit the two little arrows for selecting the desired text.

I'll press on different areas of the screen until I get a place that seems to recognize the command, and then I'll just have to spend extra time narrowing my field to make sure I only select the text I intend to cut or copy.

I had this trouble slightly with the Bionic, but definitely appears to be worse with the Maxx.

Anybody with the same issue or a good workaround?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just some setting not enabled, but does your Maxx show the city/state under the phone number when receiving a call? Mine doesn't. It's supposed to, right? Didn't know if this was new thread worthy so decided to ask here first.

I just bought my Maxx 3 weeks ago and over the weekend it has started to shutdown all the time! I have down a cache partition twice and it hasn't seemed to help. Are you still having the same issue? I talked to Verizon and all they will do is repair it but I will be without my phone for 5 business days. HELL NO!

I had the same issue after I dropped it. There might be hardware that came loose afterwords. I brought it to Verizon, they soft reset it and said to come back if it does it again. Until then, they couldn't replace it yet. Walk 50 feet from the store, does it again, walk right back in and they issue me a replacement. The replacement was sent to my fathers house since he is the account holder, so he had to ship it to me. Quite a hassle for a new phone. But, no problems since I replaced it. Did you get the insurance plan?

The other day my phone (Droid Maxx) died when I wasn't using it, so I didn't charge it for a few hours. When I plugged it in, a weird bright green LED turned on in the top left corner of the screen. About a minute passed and it went away. I've never seen that light turn on since. Has anyone else seen this before?

I haven't seen it, but that's by design. When the battery is not yet charged enough to power the display, that LED will come on.

I am sure this has been discussed but not in this thread, so here goes.

Home screen shows an unread email, but there are no unread emails. No drafts, etc etc.

Anyone have a simple solution for that?
