Does anyone know if there is a desk dock for the Droid Maxx similar to the one for the Razr Maxx? I use my phone as an alarm clock and like it to sit on its side.

I would check out the Tylt Qi Charger. Its a wireless charger where you can set the phone on it vertically or horizontally and it will charge.

Sorry to bump up this old thread but Tylt Qi Charger won't initiate the dock mode on the Maxx, is that the case anyone?

Correct. Doesn't initiate the dock mode. The Droid branded Qi didn't either.

Yes, the Tylt gives you the viewing angle you are after but not the dock mode. I would guess you could implement that with something like Tasker though.

I use mine as an alarm clock with the TYLT. IMHO the wireless charging of the Tylt for outweighs any need to be in dock mode. For use as an alarm clock at night, active notifications shows you the time (hands free) every once in a while anyway, which is better than manually turning on the screen for that info.

I know you can activate the car dock mode with a magnet if you find the sweet spot, but not sure about where the cradle sensor is.

On Blackberries, there is magnetic sensor in the phone, and cases designed for the Blackberry have a magnet in the case. You can configure the phone to answer when taken out of the case and hang up when put into the case. Sound profiles can also refer to the in/out case state to do different notifications for a particular application depending on whether the phone is in or out of the case.

Are you saying that there is a comparable magnetic sensor on the Droid Maxx that can be used in a similar way? One thing I really miss from my Blackberry is the fine grained customizable sound/vibrate profiles.

Yes there is a magnetic sensor on the Maxx but I am pretty sure it is just used for docking and cannot be used as you describe for the BB. The sensor is located on the back of the phone along the side (left side looking at the front of the phone, right side looking at the back of the phone) almost directly opposite from the Volume Down rocker. If you put a magnet in that area you will see it activate the car dock mode and you will also have landscape home screens available. I will try and post a pic later to help with the location.

Here is the pic. Hope it helps. Keep in mind that shot is in a mirror and I didn't take the time to flip the image so where my finger is pointing is on the side with no buttons.

In developer options just leave screen on when charging and you can leave anything you wish on all night while docked on your Tylt wireless charger. I use the desk clock in the EZ Weather app. uploadfromtaptalk1390841428700.jpg
