So, I've been waiting FOREVER to hear something about an update to lolipop on my phone. Is this EVER coming. I hate to be a pain, but my phone is really suffering. It's slower than molasses, and half the time when I send a text it doesn't go through. I'm hoping that lolipop will help. I don't know what else to do. :'(

It's still going to be a while yet. Motorola hadn't updated the 2013 Moto X on Verizon to Lollipop yet, and I find it hard toe believe that the Droid Maxx will get an update before the X.

IMO, having an unlocked bootloader is key for Google phones because unlike Apple who does an excellent job of supporting their devices long after production, Android phone manufacturer wants you to dump your phone for their newest model. On top of that, having to go to through the service provider such as Verizon to get an update is ridiculous. The new Moto X is supposed to change all that and level the playing field a little in that respect against Apple. But yeah, I got sick of waiting and installed Exodus 5.1.1 ROM and am loving it. On top of that, having the freedom to install Xposed modules to improve battery life means I almost have no drain with the screen off. Running Greenify, Amplify and Power Nap. Sorry if this post offends anyone, but please think about that when buying your next phone.

That's not normal. My phone is still pretty fast and I have no problem sending texts. It sounds to me like you are in an area with a bad signal. You could try a factory reset if you really think it's a phone problem.
Well, I guess I won't be getting a new phone when my two years is up. Now that Verizon is getting rid of their two year contracts and charging full price for their phones, I think I'll wait as long as possible. I like my phone and the plan I'm on. I can wait on a new phone. I may leave Verizon.

I have been with V for 8 years and like the coverage (after using Centennial, Sprint, AT&T). I moved from Blackberry to Android four years ago, and really liked the sturdiness and battery life of my Motorola Bionic, and now my Droid Maxx. However, the V crapware, slow updates, lack of customer support are untenable.
I have strong WiFi signals at my home on both 2.4 and 5. The Maxx will connect to either one, BUT I have to go to airplane mode, turn on WiFi, and can then turn airplane mode off. It has been this way since the last update which was supposedly to fix a conflict between HD Voice and 911 services. After going through this exercise to connect, it randomly disconnects from WiFi and I have to do it again. It is like WiFi and Verizon are fighting to connect and I have to turn Verizon off first?
Contract is up in October, and I want my next device to update Android without Verizon interference, so I am hoping there will be a new Nexus....but the Moto X may fit the bill.

I've never had WiFi issues with my Turbo and had it for 14mo now.
My Maxx which another family member uses as their daily driver, has issues with wifi on same networks I don't. It's all rather random WiFi issues and usually IMHO is some kind of hardware issue given its randomness. But that's just purely anecdotal.
Be careful upgrading anytime soon as subsidizing is going away soon, so Turbo won't cost $99 now its full price. Either way I'd wait for Turbo2.
The Maxx was still the best phone until I got the Turbo and only benefit of Turbo IMHO is the screen is crisper.

Nobody knows dates. Motorola still hasn't updated the 2013 Verizon Moto X, so the Maxx will probably come after that.
Motorola did promise last week that an update that would patch the stagefright exploit for phones that include the Maxx will be coming at some point, but we don't know if that will be separate from Lollipop - they didn't say. They did say that they will patch more popular phones first, so I suspect that the Maxx will be down the list.
Long answer short - it will come when it comes.
I just want lollipop just so I can play "flappy droid".

I saw an article that said all of the 2013 Droids are getting the final lollipop update any day now. It is supposedly 5.1.1. Anyone heard anything about this?
Not any day now, but we know it's coming, and apparently the 2013 Verizon Moto X is getting Lollipop now, so that's a good sign that the Droids may be soon (a month or two?)

I'm really going to laugh if I manage to go from my Droid Maxx on Kitkat to the next Nexus running M (whenever they come out that's what I'm getting assuming it works on Verizon) and skip Lollipop entirely.

My first Android was a Dinc2 on Ginger Bread...my 2nd was a GS3 on JB/KK...so after all the hype about ICS I ended up skipping it...just thought I share that...your post gave me a giggle

Do a wipe of the cache partition, which won't erase apps or data, and see if that helps. If not, I'd strongly suggest backing up photos and videos and doing a factory data reset and set the phone up from scratch.

Cute. Marshmellow (Android 6) has been announced, and we still haven't got Lollipop (Android 5.x) on the Droid Maxx. The notes say that Marshmellow will be available on "2014 Droid Maxx". Mine was assembled in October 2013. Are there multiple versions of the Droid Maxx (other than the 16MB/32MB variants)? Isn't an XT1080 an XT1080???
