Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

I just received Lollipop on my Nexus 7 and I really dislike the elimination of the stock email app.

The stock email app has been eliminated and consolidated into gmail. I haven't found a suitable replacement app and I won't take the Lollipop on my Droid Maxx unless I find one.

Maybe it's not a deal breaker for many but I don't see anything in Lollipop that I can't live without.

CloudMagic and BlueMail have worked well for me. I am also currently trying the new Outlook preview which is doing well for me so far.

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

Was hoping for a Bluetooth connection patch.....nope

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

March at the earliest, but I think it'll be more like may. The turbo doesn't have it yet, last year's Moto x either - both those phones will get it before the Maxx.

Well, I was wrong about March or May. My new guess: three months after the turbo gets it, or two months after the 2013 Moto X On Verizon, whichever is later. Whenever those happen ...

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

Yeah, I hoped the 'soak' was for Lollipop... No soak as there was no private forum like for a 'soak...

I'm beginning to think there'll be no upgrade for the Ultra/Maxx/Mini as they're approaching 2 years old. I'm also beginning to think that Lollipop resembles Windows Vista though I never had the pleasure...

Anyone getting the com.motorola.ccc failures since the last update/soak? Happens during boot up, mainly.. occasionally between boots. Thought this 'maintenance update' would cure that.. nope..

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

No errors for me. Motorola is still committed to upgrading the maxx/Ultra/Mini to Lollipop. It'll probably still be a couple of months at least but I'm sure it's coming. They have to get the turbo and older moto x done first, though.

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

I got an update today to 24.13.2, but it's still not Android 5 yet. Not sure exactly what it's supposed to address.

It was a minor patch to fix a bug. Before the patch, when an encrypted phone was first started and before you entered the passphrase to decrypt storage and continue boot, there is an emergency call button. If you pressed that and called 911, you could hear the dispatcher but they couldn't hear you.

A rare occurrence for sure, but this small update fixed that bug.

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

Since nobody's really brought it up, how long do you think it'll take until Android Lollipop hits the Droid Maxx?

Personally I hope it never does. Every OS upgrade I've ever had brings unwanted bugs, glitches and battery problems. You get a new phone and it's running an OS that is working well on it. Along comes a upgrade that some of your apps aren't even written for, it puts more demand on you RAM, your battery stops lasting all day and all of a sudden your nice new phone is running slower than molasses and there's no avoiding the factory reset which may help some but the phone will never be the same. They are forcing you into buying phones with more ram to accommodate the new OS. I hate updates. There are never enough good changes to out way how your phone works after. This never changes. My wife's S5 just went to 5.0 and even after a factory reset there are camera and battery problems. I don't want the OS upgrade. Leave my phone alone you android freakin geeks.

You do realize that the version we're running isn't what the Droid Maxx came with, right? We're running Kit Kat just fine with no issues whatsoever right now, but when Kit Kat was brand new there were tons of bugs and issues. That's why Lollipop's taking so long. They're fixing the bugs.

Re: Android Lollipop for Droid Maxx?

I've got issues with KitKat. Google Maps keeps crashing.

That doesn't seem to be the normal experience, though. I assume you've taken steps to diagnose/fix the problem?

That's speculation. We have no idea why it's taking so long.

I've got issues with KitKat. Google Maps keeps crashing.

Settings / apps, find "Maps" and tap it (it should be in the first, or "downloads", column), tap "uninstall updates". Then go into the Play Store app and reinstall the update to the app. See if that fixes it.

I use Maps frequently and have had no trouble at all with it.

I have the same issue. It works completely fine, but I'll get a notification at random times when I'm not using it telling me that maps crashed.

Me too. Occasionally, when I am not using Maps, I will get a notification that "Google Maps has stopped. Report/Close". Must be some background service associated with Maps. No problems while actually using Maps.

I've done that. It made no difference. It crashes while I'm not using it. I get several messages every day.

Yep, same here. Very annoying. I've tried clearing cache and clearing data. Neither has helped.
