Droid MAXX: weird charging issue

My car charger wont work with the primary cable as the charger. If I add a usb cable to the 2nd slot, and use that cable it then it charges my phone. I bought a new charger and have the same issue. I tried both outlets in my car. Anyone run into this?

Maybe try a totally different car charger and see if it works. Very strange issue.

They were different brands both tried on both outlets in my car. I'm stumped
