I have heard that the droid over seas has the multi touch and the one we have can in theory do this feature. However it seems that it is no were to be found. is there any apps that will make it work out there ?

What you've heard is true, the european version of the Droid does have multi-touch, the hardware does support it. There are no apps that enable it. Rumor has it that it'll be supported in a future version but AFIK it's only rumor.

I hope somebody chimes in and says I'm full of it and that it's definitely coming!

I hear that there is a photo App that lets you use multi touch. However it could have been on a euro device.
I really want Multi touch in web browsing .

I would like it for the pinch and zoom....but I also think it would be great for less typos on the virtual keyboard

Picsay is the photo app that has multitouch enabled. You can download it in the market.

Do you think it can be ported from the Milestone when it comes out? I would think it could be :D And if so I will be scouring the interwebs for the how to!

Yep, me too. Although double tap works, I always double tap and then have to size smaller which is a pain.

You can adjust in the browser setting the size(default zoom) you want after a double tap. I have mine set to far and it seems to work good for me.

It is true that the Droid hardware supports multitouch... I've seen it in the Picsay app. I believe it is a thing with apples "rights" to putting two fingers on a screen. So, ideally, a software update some day will enable it for the keyboard or the browser.

Side note though... I don't even like the pinch zoom gesture... I much prefer double tap because you don't have to change how you are holding the phone.

There's already different keyboard apps out there right? Why can't someone make a keyboard app that utilizes the multi-touch? I'd definitely be willing to pay for that, I could finally type on it like I could on my iPhone instead of so SLOW.

i'm waiting for even better keyboard to add that to their app. THEN i'll buy it.

you hear me EBK devs?! you want my $3, i know you do. ;)

yes, i have found i like the double tap for web pages...much easier to read with one hand vice two.

But one area i think multitouch should be enabled is on the keyboard. I am new to touch screens, but feel my speed is limited without that capability. I tried better keyboard, but i returned it because it kept sliding to another keyboard when i typed and did not support multitouch. we need a keyboard that supports multitouch!

This.

I could care less about pinch zoom gestures for the browser
Its really not that practical. Most people just like it because it looks cool.

Guess I'm not "most people". I like it because it's the easiest way to get exactly the screen size I want for whatever it is I'm looking at.

To each his/her own.

I think its a 50/50 things some people actually find it functionaly better and others like it cause its cool. I personally like the double tap because it zooms very easy to where I want it on the page but I can appreciate others who like the other way.

You cant attack Apple an make a foolish mistake

Droid doesn't MULTITOUCH. .....FAIL. HUGE FAIL

....I LIKE THE phone but its not on the I level

Man I love when someone comes on a forum and declares. That something fails over the smallest reason funny
