Droid not charging in multimedia dock?

Anyone else found this? I haven't had luck with my searches for help so far... Here's the deal: I charge my phone each night by putting it in the multimedia dock. Wake up in the morning and battery is at about 30% (so clearly it has not charged). Made special note of this and the next night, from the docking screen, clicked the home button to go to my home screen and check to make sure that the battery is in fact charging (have widget on home screen). Yup, says it's charging when I go to bed. I've tried leaving it on the home screen over night, leaving it on the docking screen, leaving it on the lock screen....no changes. The kicker is, it seems erratic. I think sometimes it is in fact charging it.
Basically, I end up going into work and charging it with the wall charger every day, and crossing my fingers (or bringing charger home) on the weekends.

Anyone else having issues charging with the dock?

(as a general aside -- I've read a *lot* of posts from people complaining that the dock is too bright for them at night, even when turned down to low. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents that it does not bother me at all! Neither does the short cord. WOuld be very happy with the dock IF IT CHARGED MY PHONE... )

Sounds like a bad charger or a short in either the cable or the dock itself.

Since the charger can actually be unplugged from the dock and plugged directly into the phone, I would try that for a few days (or until you get the same results), to see if the problem is within the dock itself.

If it still fails to charge, I would then try plugging the other end of the USB cable into a computer USB port, and see if the problem persists.

Finally, try changing to another USB cable.

It appears that you have a wall charger at work. You could also try bringing that home (or bringing the dock to work) and try the wall charger with the dock, temporarily replacing the charger and cable that came with the dock.

I had the same problem when it was plugged into m computer and the computer would go into sleep mode it would not charge.

other then that it works great. Sorry.

hmmm... ok, i will investigate! i'm starting to think it may be my phone itself (or the battery?) because i've left it plugged in to the wall charger overnight as well, and woken up to less battery power than when i went to sleep. maybe i have a gremlin.

thanks for all the advice!

Did you by any chance use a different USB cable? I tried a non-moto micro-USB cable and it said it was charging but didn't charge it at all.

Although I won't discredit the possibility, I doubt it has to do with a non-moto charger..I use my old BlackBerry charger at home, connected to the MMDock, use my girlfriends LG Voyager charger at her house, then only use my actual charger that came with the Droid at the office

It's not the charger, it's the cable. The USB cable itself can be to blame. Droid thinks it's being charged if you stick any micro-USB cable in it but it's not.

I have two multimedia docking stations, one at home and one at work. My phone is not charging on either of them, so I do not believe that it is the docking station. It was charging just fine on the one at work before I took it to Verizon to work on some other issues. I messed around with the Display and Battery settings, and cannot make it charge. I am going to try turning it off and on next, but hope that I do not have to do this all the time.

I just bought a new docking station from fleabay for my Droid 4 and it lights up and has the icon on the phone saying it is charging but it only seems to maintain it, don't know if this what it is supposed to do?, anyway I am getting a replacement and will see how it goes.
