Droid RAZR M update

I had suggestions before the update. By the way I would not use smart actions. It slowed down my phone alot. If you disable it your phone will be much faster. At least in my case.

I disabled it because it didn't do anything I couldn't do for myself.

You guys must be on drugs.
Smart Actions is one of the best things about the Mini!

When I get to work, it turns off data (dead zone - conserves battery) and sets ringer to vibrate. I don't have to remember to do it.

When I go to sleep, it sets ringer to silent, except for wife and kids. I don't think I could do that myself.

When I put it in the car dock, it turns on Bluetooth, starts Waze, Equalizer and Rhapsody. When removed form car dock, it turns off BT, saving battery.

I don't see what's not to like about that stuff.

I can do it myself without and app running in the background. Don't get me wrong its one of the best apps ever its just that I only had two profiles and those can be turned off and I could do the action myself.

I'm fairly certain Smart Actions uses no extra battery or is running in the background.
Smart Actions has never shown on the battery use list.
I have not noticed SA causing slow or sluggish phone performance.
I'm just sayin'

Smartactions takes up some RAM and does run in the background. How do you think it can do those actions? It runs in the background and then when an action triggers it, it happens.

You have the option to disable Smart Actions if you really don't use it.

Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX HD using Tapatalk 2.

I use NFC tiles instead of Smart Actions because they are 100-percent reliable and Smart Actions never were.

Unrooted, running apex. Noticed absolutely no changes.

Sent from my phone with the app.

They were behind the scene changes. (Security fix, GPS fix, and exploit fix, some performance fixes.)

I'm rooted just for the purpose of a few apps. Should I unroot before I install this update? I see some "fixes" here if there are problems, which may be handy, but can anyone recommend a "best practice" in this case?

In case anyone else reads this, I don't recommend applying the update if you're "casually rooted" as I was. I didn't have need to unlock the bootloader and had only rooted to use some file access and backup tools. After the update, root is gone, and other forums seem to indicate it probably won't be coming back. Either go all in with hacking your device, or avoid this update.

The only thing I noticed is that my 4G & tower bars are not always blue (for google services to work) & gmail, facebook etc still work.

in ref to 98.18.78.en.US OTA update, I realize this thread is old but DO NOT take this update if you are rooted but have not unlocked it or you will forever lose your root. Unlock it first, then flash stock ROMs, dont ever take an OTA if you want to stay trouble free on rooted devices. But by now yall know all this, lol

Are you referring to the bootloader or the radio?
