DROID RAZR MAXX STUCK AT Ap fastboot (fail), normal boot, recovery etc

i tried flashing my droid razr max with droid razr utily and after that, anytime i switch it on, all i see is Ap fastboot (fail), recovery, normal boot up and that list. i have to hit and hold power up and down button + power button to choose "normal boot" before it works.This is not how it used to work.
