Droid Restart/Battery Issue

Hi Folks,

I am curious if anyone else has this issue. When I got my Droid 2 months back, I noticed that it would restart randomly, with no discernible pattern. After these 2 months, I have determined it to be the battery, and most likely a bad connection between the battery and the phone inputs. Whenever I tap my phone (i.e. sliding/dropping it on my desk, no more than an inch away when released, or when I am taking it out of the "change" holder in my car and accidentally tap the screen, or when I close the slider really hard), it goes black and restarts.

However, as I mentioned, this is a random occurrence. I have tested it by dropping my Droid from higher heights (6 in+), or hitting it with my knuckle, etc, but this has not caused it to restart. Therefore, it must be a special amount and direction of force.

Anyone else have this sensitive-restart problem?

Yeah, I know, but I really dont want to. Especially since I have a techskin screen cover, and those are a pain to replace by warranty.

Holy Crap!! that's dedication! If it wasn't busted before it sure as heck is NOW! Nahhh, just teasing.
No, I never had random turn offs. I'd say you're a golden candidate for a warranty replacement.

I can just hear the conversation now:

Dapke36: "My Droid is messed up. It just randomly turns off."

Verizon Rep: "May I see the phone please?"

(Dapke36 pulls Droid from pocket backs up 10 feet, tosses it in the air in front of him and punts it to the service counter)

Dapke36: "Here ya' go! Catch!"

(Verizon Rep ducks as Droid zings past his head and crashes into wall behind him and plummets to the floor)

Verizon Rep: "well.... I think I know what the problem might be."

Dapke36: "Yeah, I know... it just started doing this the other day out of the clear blue sky"

Verizon Rep: (mumbling to himself) "yeah... as it FELL from the clear blue sky."

Dapke 36: "What?"

Verizon Rep: "Oh, nothing. Tell me, has your phone gotten wet?"

Dapke36: "Well, I DO shower with it..."

Haha that is awesome. I promise i'm less aggressive than that :p.

Yeah, I may have to warranty replace it soon. I'm trying to hold off on the day. You also don't get a new phone with it, but a "certified warranty replacement".

My screen is also not entirely flush to the keyboard when closed anymore either. Most people wouldn't know this, but I was bored and have a pair of digital calipers...so....

Warranty.

@ dapke36: I know you're not beating up your phone. 6 inch drop is nothing. I doubt you're tossing it on concrete. I'm glad you have a good sense of humor.

You HAD to test it. But, if the screen actually looks seperated - I'd take that puppy back pronto.

oh, and.. digital calipers... that's frickin' awesome.

Mine has turned off randomly on me twice.. i dont think of it as a big deal because i think it was from me hitting the power button to many times..
