Do you have the old SIM card to put back to try it? I took the SIM card out of my DT when I sent it back to Verizon after trading it in for the DT2.

I put the original SIM back in. Even had VZW activate it so that it was registered to my number. No go- no welcome screen message. The massage has been gone since the first power up after doing the FDR. Before that, it was there.

Plan on pulling off the top layer and replacing with tempered glass as soon as the screen protector arrives (just ordered from Amazon).

How did that work out for you? I have not received my phone yet however I loath plastic screen protectors and think this screen may have the same feel. I will either put glass over the factory layers or do as you are doing (understanding potential warranty issues).

Just a FYI, if you do a factory data reset, you lose the personalized message when the phone boots. I don't see anything in the settings to get it back. Ask me how I know....

It may or may not have. The FDR apparently wipes out the welcome message, and I don't see any way to get it back.

That is not true at all. I have done a factory reset, and my personal greeting is still there.

More than one person has reported losing the greeting as a result of the FDR. I wonder if it makes a difference if you do it from within the Android OS (under Settings) or from the recovery menu?
