So now that the update is out to all users and we can talk about it. Anyone notice the OEM unlock in the dev settings? This means the bootloader is unlockable and full root is easier right? Or am i just a retarded monkey? I made a vague post before as to not breach the soaker agreement.

Unlock code is still needed from Moto. Big Red won't let them give it to us.

Just curious where /how did you get it, because it's usually device specific.

via AC App on
VZW Moto X 2014/ DE 2013/ N7

I think the option simply allows for a user accessible setting to prevent unlocking (like if you lost your device). It doesn't overwrite any manufacturer restrictions.

What I found when selecting this option on (which no one seemed to mention) is the dialog box that comes up after selecting it on. The box basically says that device protection will be disabled while the setting is on which could mean a lot of different things. It sounds like it is an override of built-in security software provided by Motorola and Google for development purposes (or rooting). I'd have to research it more, though.

We have 2 Droid Turbos, one has this setting the other doesn't. The one that does has had many issues since the update the other doesn't not sure if that has anything to do with it...when working properly this is a great phone. I'll have to see if that setting has any real value. I've had a few Motorola phones I've rooted, but the issues with this one only after a few weeks, has me worried about trying to root it while under warranty.
