Droid Turbo User Wanting to Switch to G3

I've had my Droid Turbo for a week now and I'm not sure it's the phone for me. The bad camera is a deal-breaker for the most part. My cell phone is the only camera I have and the G3's is phenemonal from everything I've seen.

I made the switch from iOS to Android and I was pretty deadset on getting the G3 but I was somewhat talked into the Turbo. I think the battery on my Turbo is faulty because it hasn't been great, and again the camera doesn't help. I do really like the feel of the Turbo and it's been responsive and the screen is great.

However, the G3 is just a sexier phone with features I think I'd enjoy more. The pulldown menu is miles better than the Turbo's and that camera is amazing. I also like the on-screen buttons and the settings options.

The only knocks I might have against the G3 is that the screen is somewhat dim, so I'd assume I'd be using up more battery by turning up the brightness on this, and that the battery life might not be great. But being able to buy a second battery is awesome and the expandable memory is also a huge bonus.

Is there a reason I shouldn't switch to a G3 now? I need a phone so I can't really just wait it out.

The G3 has been great for me, from the camera to battery life and an overall great and responsive device...And after a few updates even the smallest amount of lag was gone in my case, and now with Lollipop it is gonna be even smoother.
So yeah i would recommend the G3 if you are not satisfied with the Turbo :)

Yeah the lag and phone heating were some concerns of mine but it seems like those issues are pretty much gone. I'd be using Nova Launcher Prime anyway and I've heard that pretty much eliminates the issue.

I'm using the stock launcher running ART as runtime and it is really smooth i own a N5 and i cant really tell much difference rather then the software being a different architecture, i mean the Optimus UI rather than stock Android, but that is not lag that is just how the software is built... Anyway i guess im lucky that my device is not overheating, i have an International d-855 model...Best of luck with your next phone :)

I was at VZW today checking out the hardware and really liked this phone, better than most of them in the store. The Sony was nice too but I kept coming back to this one. My only reservation is that maybe I should wait until the new releases instead of getting one half way through it's life. I have a dumpy GS3 that still works and I don't really need one, more of a want thing. I looked at the Turbo but it just seems like it's a beta test for VZW with all the issues I'm reading about in that forum. I'd dump the Turbo for this just based on what I saw at the store, and I do also get what you're talking about with the screen looking a little flat, still nice though.

Yeah I was pretty set on the Z3v due to the camera and great display and look of the phone, but it's just not as comfortable to hold as the Turbo nor the G3. I also really don't like the charging port being on the side of the phone along with the flap for it. If it was a standard Z3 I might've been more enticed. I wish the G4 was coming out in the next month or two because then I'd just hold on to my beat iPhone 5.

I honestly would rather have the Droid Turbo over my G3. The G3 is great and all but i like the look and features more on the turbo. And also I like the almost stock android feel on Motorola devices.

The G3 camera is incredible. You'll like it, but I am very interested in that quick charge feature. Not interested enough because of a non-removable battery and no sd card slot.

The dim screen issue can be fixed with lux lite. It's free and adds more backlight versus stock. I have it running on Auto and my battery life it's still closer to 5hours. I did 2 hours straight off modern combat 5 and took less than 50% of battery. That would usually take 95% from my old optimus g.

I'm all stock at&t

That's fantastic to hear about the screen brightness. I normally don't have my turned up too high but I want to make sure I can see well enough on the screen. Do you know if the newer models have sort of "fixed" some the older G3 issues? I'll probably end up shelling out the money for an extra battery but I still don't want to have to worry about battery life either.

The G3 actually has quick charge. For some reason no one talks about it anymore. LG has been putting it into their phones for a couple years now but suddenly Motorola is a hero for this great feature lol.

What is it about the G3 UI that has you looking at the Turbo? Just interested in your thoughts since I'm sort of in the market.

How do I get it to work? Please, share the wealth.

A close to full 15 minute charge?

The anker has Good reviews on xda and only $13. There's also a spare battery charger it fits in to for $7. On Amazon.

Not sure about previous issues but so far my battery life is great, screen is bright and no noticeable lag. Although I come from a rooted and Rom LG Optimus G.

The Droid Turbo does not get anywhere close to full after 15 minutes of charging. It charges quickly but it still takes me over an hour to go from 20% to 100%.

My bad. The advertising says 8 hours battery life in 15 minutes. Not sure what percentage that is.
