Droid X arrives 9/2!! Help

I can definitely see the addiction... It's HARD to put this thing down, lol. I'm very pleased with the X and here I tthought I would never let the BB go? SMH!
I did have one issue and it may be OE? NFL mobile would hang if I had wifi enabled, but load fine if I turned it off. Any ideas what I need to do? I thought there was a setting you can select to use wifi when available?

Settings>wireless & networks>wifi setings

If you have already connected with your local wifi (home or office), you need to check the "turn on wifi" to work with the settings. If you haven't hooked up yet, this is the place to do so. It will walk you through. Be sure to have your password handy. The X will find the signal on its own. Luck.

PS - Add to one of your home screens the Motorola widgets for wifi, airplane mode, bluetooth and GPS. They are pretty and very handy to turn on and off, as needed, these vital functions that are also major battery drains if left on all the time.

Also consider the app Extended Controls where you can build your own widgets with all sorts of on/off buttons for the functions you most need.

I like the slider to brighten the screen's backlight. That way, I can keep the screen at a low setting except when in bright daylight. Very handy and another battery saver!

Also, I have Extended Control widgets created as on/off switches for autolock, autorotate, silent/vibration, silent, timeout (screen backlight timing), always on (screen), and "stay awake" (keep screen on when USB plugged in).

Perhaps one of the most useful is the single Extended Control widget I use for "torch" using either your screen or the LED camera flash as a flashlight. I have that one on my home-home screen and have already used it!

Arelunde, thanks for the insight. i'll definitely do that. I have the moto widgets already like you recommended.
I deleted the quick dial widget, how do i get it back or where is it located? lol

TIA,
m.

I made the same switch--Tour to DX--last week. My advice is get ADW.Launcher, Lookout, DoubleTwist (both computer and phone), Google Goggles, Google Earth, Shazam, NYTimes, NPR, Barcode Scanner, Amazon, Google Shopper, Flixster, IMDB, Kindle, Dictionary, the Facebook app (official Facebook one, not the pre-installed one), AK Notepad (to replace Blackberry's memopad), Beautiful Widgets, Brightness Level widget, Blackmoon Attachsave, Android Agenda Widget (by 'Everybody All The Time'), and of course, Bump (if everybody had Bump the world would be a less frustrating place). Also, FartDroid, if you like that kind of thing.

Happy droiding.

Another thing that makes this phone so cool... it's fully compatiable with my ford sync! Now i can read, send, receive, compose and listen(reads it to me) text messages in my truck.

What are you meaning by quick dial widget? If it's one that you customize per person/contact, just press/hold a blank place on the home screen and select "contact quick tasks".

I'm not sure what it's called but its the 2nd screen to the right, the one with voice dial, recent calls, contact and faves. The widget is the one were you can select one touch dialing. ??

Still not entirely sure what you are after -- all my home screens have been customized. But try this...

Long press blank spot on home screen>shortcuts>Dialer (an icon with a green phone next to a white grid with a green border)

When you press this, it will bring up a black screen with choices: Recent calls list, Favorites, and Dialer. Press the DIALER.

That should put a green and white circle on your home screen. Touch that and you should have the dial pad with tabs across the top for contacts, recent calls and favorites.

IF this is what you are looking for, you can also access it via the white phone icon at the bottom of all the home screens, eliminating the need for a separate icon. Hope this is what you are seeking.
