I am as well, still using the lil guy. I'm hopeing to use it off service as a GPS and then some, so here is to hopeing.
Probably can't use it as a gps, because you need a data connection to load the maps. Sorry to be a debby downer. I'll probably use mine mostly as an xbmc remote control.

There are navigation apps that allow you to cache maps, even Google maps is slated to get offline maps. So as long as you cache the maps via wifi, it should work as a gps.

When you get your new every wo upgrade you will lose your unlimited. You'll only keep your unlimited if you pay full price for the phone.
I said the same thing about getting a phone on release day after getting my Droid X but I'm rationalizing because the rest of the world has it. I'm just crossing my fingers that the processor differences don't change things that much from the International version...you know its funny, because before the droid x I had a basic phone, so the droid x was my fist smart phone. I was so excited to get it that I even waited in line at the door for an hour. like I said in a previous post I loved it for the first 8 months then problems occured. I said to myself then I was never going to get a new phone until its been out a while so I can see what issues they have. But I didnt listen to myself I preorderd the SIII and I hope I dont regret it. cause with my droid X everytime I go to use it for whatever theres an issue. so once again im excited to get my new phone.. lets hope that feeling lasts
