Droid X vs. Incredible

Motorolas site is infact calling it a mini tablet. I find that interesting and excited at the same time. The X is what I was looking for and will have for quite awhile. Ive jumped from the Droid > Droid Inc > and now the X. Will have the X for awhile if I like what I see when I play with it.

Oh, and by the way for those hardcore tech guys. Ive tried to look up the differences between the OMAP(Droid X) and Snapdragon(Evo/Inc) processors and cant find any info. There much of a difference between them? From what Ive "heard", the OMAPs more efficient and more powerful even when underclocked.

If you live on the bleeding edge then the X is a no brainer.

I'm sure it's resale value will be great throughout the summer. If a new device comes out in fall then sell the X on ebay and use the nice cash return to pay for your next device.

I am considering returning my Incredible for the X as well, and by the way you may have more than 4 days to return.I was told by a vzw rep that due to the delays of the Incredible you 60 days from the day you ordered the phone to return it.

Anyone confirm this? My 30 days is up tomorrow... But my DINC has been unusable for the past 7-8 days.. They are telling me my 30 days are still up tomorrow... Even tho I won't get a new DINC shipped until the 16th.. And that I can't return it for the X

^BS! Send it in, get X!

Ive got another line eligible... I think i'm going to keep the INC brand new in the box while I test the X and then just sell the INC for more than I paid.. Especially being brand new in the box and with it being on back order.

That works too.

Could still just send Dinc back for X and keep that upgrade available for when they inevitably announce X 4G Incredible 4G or whatever they have up their sleeves. lol

True that.. I'm just getting fed up with trying to deal with them. there are 3 lines on my plan and my mom and grandpa are happy with there phones... so I'm always upgrading.. So I should have one around march next year too

And three weeks after the X is out, the next latest and greatest phone will come out from another carrier. You end up chasing your tail and constantly paying cancellation fees.

Is there anything that your Incredible did well 3 week before that it does not do now?

I am about to say something really horrible.

It's a phone.

It's a phone.

I get the point you're trying to make here, but it's really not just a phone, not even just a smartphone. Mobile devices in general--smartphones being the most important--have revolutionized not only business throughout the entire world, but also how information is consumed on a planet-wide scale.

These "phones" have truly revolutionized communication in a way most people are only just beginning to grasp. So please, don't use the "it's just a phone" argument--it clearly doesn't work here. If it was just a phone, you wouldn't be reading these forums, or even giving enough of a damn to post on one.

I don't mean to call you out or offend you, I would just like to enlighten you to the vast world of information technology that Google and Apple are opening up through a bunch of "phones."

Off topic, sorry. Just wanted to throw my opinion out there. Feel free to argue though. :D

It's a phone.

Your right it is a phone... But I text and am on the internet more with it than talk on it...

Bigger screen... Better for texting / internet. Faster processor... Better for multi tasking. Better camera.

We all have different uses for our "phones" mine might not be the same as yours. Or the same as another guys.

Anyway back on topic

I love my incredible, aside from the battery life. The X looks pretty awesome, and coming from the blackberry storm 2 anything android is pretty exciting lol! But I think im going to stay with my incredible..that is unless someone can show some info about 60 day return?

I am in a similiar boat. I got my DINC on the 2nd of june. I activated it on the 15th. I have been told i have 30 days from june 2nd the day i received it by a phone supervisor but told i have 30 days from the activation date by 2 store reps and a different phone rep. so i am not sure. i am hoping a smart vzw rep can answer that one. many said, its the activation date that matters cause when you activate a phone you phone ordered thats when you accept the new contract agreement, etc so that is when your 30 days start. but the one supevisor who was an idiot said it was def. 30 days from the date i received the phone.

i am also torn. even more now that i know that if i return my incredible and then dont like the droid x for whatever reason, if i go back to the incredible i might not get an AMOLED screen agaiN!!!!!!!! i LOVE LOVE LOVE my amoled screen, the colors rock and the blacks rock and i just love it, and its the biggest reason (one of them) that i want to keep it. now that new phones will have TFT screens, that sucks, cause t hats probably what i would get if i go back to the DINC after the X.

I also love a couple parts of sense, the keyboard, but i know that can be loaded on the droid x, but i love the sense smart dial feature, i crave the ability to dial the first part of a phone number and have the phone app match that to the contacts with matching phone numbers. does the droid x do this? anyone know? if not, is it at all possible to load sense on a droid x? like can someone cook a rom wfor the droid x with sense or is that htc hardware specific in some way?

still a hard deecision, to me bigger screen is bettr, but also crisper screen is better and better colors is better, so i am really torn!

I think what is making me want to switch from the DInc is the sense. It is constantly force closing and I am losing all my sms and mms. And with the amoled shortage I can't even get a new one to see if its just my phone or not

I would try a hard reset. I had an issue with sense force closing on me after i installed one of the system monitoring programs out of the app market. It did it even after uninstalling the app. I ended up doing a hard reset and haven't had a single FC since.

Task managers or whatever, they don't play well with sense. Don't really need em. Delete, and hard reset and you should be good.

Question for the board:

My DINC has a cracked screen, thankfully I have insurance. DO you think if I wait until the 15th I could trade it in for an X since DINC is on backorder? My fear is that if I get another DINC the screen will get fubar'ed again whereas the X should have a more durable screen.

Yeah I am torn. I have a small hands so Dinc feels perfect. . . but I'm such a tech junky. . . . that I'll probably go with the gargantuan Droid x.
