Droid X vs. Incredible

Those of you with a DINC.... just stay with it for now. Good lord, don't get so caught up in the latest and greatest. The X screen may be bigger, but the AMOLED screen is clearer and nicer. Bigger is NOT always better. Also if people abuse the VZW return policy too much, they will kill it, like Newegg did.

Just relax and enjoy having a phone not too many people can even get.

Droid Incredible Can Be Returned for 60 Days

Can anyone else confirm this? I would imagine it would apply to alot of people that got the D-INC at launch date. If more than 2 people can confirm this with a VZW Rep, I will believe it, and might take my D-INC back for the Moto X.....

Yes, can confirm. Bought Incredible on 4/29, returned it today (6/28) without box even no issues.

And three weeks after the X is out, the next latest and greatest phone will come out from another carrier. You end up chasing your tail and constantly paying cancellation fees.

Is there anything that your Incredible did well 3 week before that it does not do now?

I am about to say something really horrible.

It's a phone.

LOL. So true.

X size

So I took the advice of getting my hands on an EVO. I went to a Sprint Store. It's not so bad. But I don't think it should go any bigger. Having said that, I know that the Droid X IS bigger. Luckily the 30 day return policy exists, huh? I would not mind the Incredible.

Unless you're in sunlight...then you're SOL. The Droid X has LCD which will keep it usable in the sun.

My NE2 is tomorrow. I had hoped to get the DNIC then return within 30 days to get droid x... But no sense in pre-ordering!

reasons i want to switch the droid x from the incredible for those who dont have an incredible

1) capacitive buttons, good idea, look cool, function sucks. since they cant be turned off during gaming, i am constantly hitting them by accident and messing up my games, especially annoying playing multiplayer texas holdem. yeah the regular buttons arent as cool, but you cant press them by accident as easy.

2) htc diaer has a huge end call button in the middle and i constantly hang up and dial calls by accident. i love smart dial, but the rest of it sucks big time. i guess i could use an app, but they seem to all have issues.

3) the power button is on the top left instead of the middle like the droid x, i constalty hit it cause i like to hold the phone in that area.

4) i lose wifi and/or 3g reception depending on how i hold the phone, hoping the droid x dual antennas helps this.

5) the battery of the incredible sucks, i barely use it and it dies. if i decide to keep the inredible the slim extended will help, but not going to waste th emoney till i decide i am going to keep it.

6) i want a bigger screen, i suck at typing on touch screens cause i have huge hands, but i have found the bigger the screen, the better it gets. (incredible is way easier than landscape storm kb for example)

7) worried about the things ability to take a drop, i have seen tons of damaged incredibles from single drops, my moto phones have taken major beatings.

8) in my brick apartment building, only moto phones can hold signal for calls. my storm didnt work at all, dropped almost every call, the incredible works much better than the storm, but neither work perfectly in my apartment like my moto q did.

9) noise canceling microphone on droid x is major plus if it works good.

Reason i want to keep the incredible over the droid x.

1) size. even though the droid x bigger screen is the main reason i want it, i noticed based on the evo 4g that the phone is so wide that it will no longer fit sideways in my belt holster without digging in my side when sitting, etc, the incredible is just the right thickness for a belt horizontal belt holster.

2) amoled screen is a big win IMO. i love it, i love the colors, i love the dept, i love the contrast. in the pics i have seen side by side the droid x and a the galaxy and dinc with their amoled screens, the droid x screen looked washed out and last generation. an in person look will help me with this descision though.

3) if i return my DINC, then decide i want to go back, it looks like most likely i will end up with a TFT screen, which ruins the DINC IMO.

4) optical joystick def. helps in certain situations like fine tuning bets lol and especially in getting the cursor to the right spot. but i would take a bigger screen over this since i dont use it too much, so i guess its a draw on that point.

Tough decision, hopefully this will help some of you.

And now the fascinate with its DIVX support, six axis gyro, 4 inch super AMOLED screen, etc has come out, its an even harder choice. bing sucks, but i am convinced it can be disabled or non-default.

I'm actually getting my Droid incredible tomorrow sometime and have been thinking about switching to the X myself.

Here is what i have come up with.

I will play with the Droid Incredible until the 15th. Once the 15th arrives i will go to my verizon store, if they have Any droid X's in-store at that moment i will be switching to the X. However if they give me "Backordered" crap i am going to stick with my Droid Incredible simply because i don't want to wait even more time for the X lol.

So here is to praying all stores get at least some for release day!!!

I talked with a Verizon rep and she said that the 30 days starts upon activation with the DInc.

LOL; easy...that was directed towards the OP.

You can buy whatever you want to buy. Was just referencing the review that indicates the Incredible is better than the X.
Hell no. If I was gonna buy either of the two, I'd buy the Droid X. Its specs alone are a lot better, the screen is better, and battery life is better for sure.

Is the Droid X going to be LTE capable? Im not techy when it comes to the LTE stuff as I honestly have no idea what it even is. If there's devices that are coming out later this year and the X wont be capable with, I may just hold off then :(

no phones are LTE yet cause LTE mobile phone standard is not yet done or recently finished.

the devices launching in late 2010 are broadband modems only, first LTE phones are scheduled for 2011, i read that right off their corp website recently.

Product Reviews -- Engadget

The Incredible is a keeper, the better of the two.

I am 6 foot 3, 225lbs, very large hands, the incredible seems "small" to me, and droid x will suit me for typing much better, but motoblur ruins it.

I have asked this before but dont think it got an answer, is it ever possibly for a rom cooker to cook a droid x rom with sense or some of it? are there device or processor specific customizations in sense?

First, it does not have MOTO BLUR. BLUR is that crap interface on the cliq or whatever. This has some fine tunning and widgets from MOTO. So it is NOT the BLUR that you know, its basically not BLUR at all. Check out the video reviews and youll see.

Second, sadly, afaik, the bootloader is encrypted which means....no custom ROMS. People have been trying to get into an encrypted moto bootloader for months now and no go. I have not had an android yet, waiting for the X, but I doubt not having sense is a make or break. does it make it THAT much better? I cant imagine that.

Does this mean the X won't be able to be rooted and have custom roms put on it?

If that's the case that might be another deal breaker for me :( can't be used internationallly, not lte compatible, and no roms? Uff. Lookin worse and worse :(

How can it be that Engadget finds that "No Android 2.2 at launch" is a BAD thing on the Droid X, but not on other Android phones?

I took everyone's advice when determining whether the X would be best for me or the DInc. Went and messed around with a EVO and found it to be a good size for my stubby, fat fingers.

I have been waiting for my DInc for over 3 weeks now and they said on launch day of the X, I can come in to get that and my DInc order will be canceled. VZW rep told me that they have been told to expect enough inventory to not sell out of the X within a week! True or not, I don't know. But I do know I'll be taking a bit of time off of work on the 15th to make sure I get my X with no inventory issues.
