Drop AT&T and go MetroPCS, here's why...

I was paying $104 for 3 gigs of 4G data from AT&T. (unlimited texts and 5000 minutes, using GS4)
Every month I would go over my data, and end up paying $114. (It cost $10 for 1 gig of data)
Sometimes I would go over 3 times in a single month (can't blame anyone but myself), and have to pay $144 or $154.

This was pissing me off, and then my brother told me about MetroPCS, and that they have good service in this area. He was using the OnePlus One. He said MetroPCS has a $50 unlimited 4G EVERYTHING plan. I didn't believe him, I knew there was a catch. I assumed the catch was being throttled after 1 or 3 gigs of data..... but I was wrong. It isn't throttled. It really is unlimited everything. And I get service everywhere I did with my AT&T service, so far at least.

Last month I used over 19 gig of data, which would have cost me $264 with AT&T. ($104 base + ($10 x 16 gig)) . I paid $50.
If MetroPCS is in your area, your contract is about to be up and you're tired of being shafted, you should check the coverage map.

Edit: I'm in Milwaukee, WI using Galaxy S4

Although that's very good pricing, MetroPCS runs off of T-Mobile which isn't very good in my area :(

For those that have the T-Mobile coverage (since Metro PCS runs on T-Mobile's network) it works out well.

I am on the 2 line for $100 (fully unlimited) T-Mobile deal. I love it .. Right now I am at almost 90 GB and have about 8 days left in my billing cycle. :).

How in the world do you reach 90 GB?

I have used 5 terabytes before. Mostly through Verizon official unlimited unthrottled 4GLTE hotspot.

I'm from L.A. Everyone I know with T-Mobile complains about bad reception.

It depends where you are. I know many people on tmobile in LA, and in some areas, tmobile is quite excellent, number one for them. A friend said tmobile was pushing 50mbps and at the same spot, Verizon and AT&T was struggling for service.

Yeah since I upgraded to an LTE device my usage has skyrocketed. I only used max 20 GB a month on hspa+. Now I'm almost at 25 with only half my billing cycle gone lol. I'm in Chicago btw.

To bring the conversation back toward the topic, I would suggest for anyone to test Metro first before dropping your current carrier.

90 GB! You are definitely getting your money's worth. I thought my 19 gigs was a lot. Do you watch all your streams in full HD, too?

Definitely a great suggestion, I was lucky enough to have my brother take the plunge before me.

Yep. I always have it set to HD -- figure I have the data plan. Why not? I don't want to watch non-HD ^_^.

So I have a HTC One M8 with at&t , would I have to have the phone unlocked before going to metro or can I just go in and pay the 50$

Yes, you will have to have it unlocked by your carrier. at&t didn't let me go easily, but I paid my way out of contract. They will give you an IMEI number, which you will give to the people at Metro. If you want to keep your number, this process is different, so do research before paying ETF. I believe you would just have to provide your at&t account number to Metro so they can do the transfer from at&t, but there's more to it.
