Android Central Question

I dropped my S5 onto a concrete pavement, now the screen won't turn on. When I hold the power button the middle portion of the screen flashes for a split second showing a part of the battery charging indicator. The phone does not show up when I plug it into a pc and the charging led in the corner doesn't turn on when its plugged in.

theres really no way to tell without the phone in hand. dropping on pavement can also cause shock that could damage or loosen other parts.

^Truth.
Dropping an IC on a tile floor from 3 feet can induce up to 2000 G's of deacceleration loading. Enough to break it's internal wafer bonds.
The phone housing dampens the impact somewhat but a solid screen plant can transmit much of the deacceleration impact loading directly to the display. Not good.

Good phone cases help limit the internal impact G's not just keep the phone pretty.

In my country, they fix it for free

With my carrier with insurance if damaged they will fix/replace it.
If still under factory warranty with no damage it may be sent to manufacturer or perhaps not.
With damage and no insurance, you're paying for repairs.

Best not to damage a phone regardless; keep it in a good case 24/7.

If you have warranty, they should fix it for free

Warranties may vary by country, but in most of the world, manufacturer's warranties only cover defects, not accidental damage. There have been companies that offered free screen repair/replacement for accidental damage (typically just once), but this was just a sales gimmick (I think it was HTC).
