Dropped on the hinge!

It finally happened, dropped on laundry room floor tiles and the hinge hit right smack dead center.

Couldn't open fully and the screen lifted where the joint sits.

The upper half blanked out.

However the outer screen works.
After trying to force it open,the thing finally died.got the ZF4 on launch day.

Nada! Had to add a second line to get the promo on a new device! The timing couldn't have been better(sarcasm). The black Friday specials were spot on!

I found on Amazon a high quality camera tether that I now have looped to my belt loop and oem silicone case with ring. Much more secure now!
I have nerve issues with my hands and prone to dropping the ZF4. Now with the camera tether dropping problem solved.
We need more accessible accessories.

When I dropped my ZF4 on the hinge I screamed not because of the drop but the fact that I just broke a 1500$ device.

That's one of the drawbacks of owning expensive devices. If it was a sub $200 clearance priced Moto you'd go "darn it, have to set up a new phone" lol. Our expensive hobby has it's downsides :-\

And .. .,I got the ZFLIP4 512gb on launch day as well not even 6mnths old! UGH!

Omg soooo true...heheh..I wouldn't care! This is my 1st ever expensive device BORKED by dropping!

I know......even though I had a case the hinge is still exposed and literally it hit smack dab on the hinge, thus it made a loud cracking sound, I knew at that point I just broke a 1500$ device...itoy Vey!

That's interesting, because I have the Samsung leather cover on my Flip 3, and was thinking why get a bulky cover to protect the hinge, what are the odds I drop it on the hinge.... and even if I did, that tough metal hinge should be fine right? Lol.

Now I'm rethinking my case choice

I've always used flagships and literally this is my first break of an expensive device.i keep in pristine condition for resale value.
However I have the OEM silicone ring case now,as the ring makes it more secure whilst using.

Did you get the free 12 month insurance with it or was that only in the UK? My friend dropped hers when she got out of the car. The phone would only open half way and only 1/2 screen visible.
Samsung gave her a new Flip!

No, I didn't get the insurance. Didn't think I needed it. I'm always really careful with flagship devices and keep them in pristine condition for good resale value.

I'm bummed!
