Dropped phone in toilet

That still has nothing to do with me not wanting to drop it into a toilet. I want nothing of mine to ever go in a toilet lol.

True, I can easily agree to that.

I used to work for Verizon and customers would bring in a water damaged phone and after we began looking at it tell us it was in their toilet, happened to me a few times a year. Glad we had hand sanitizer in the store.

Nope. That's nasty. I often hear dudes on their phone when they are in the public restroom. Skeeves me right out and I get disgusted on behalf of whatever poor victim they are speaking with.

It's just good manners not to do what goes on in that room while having a conversation with someone.

I don't think my point should be too difficult to understand.

You can mute a call.
Not to mention, the people I quoted said they don't understand taking the phone into the bathroom, or using it in the bathroom, being on a call is not the only way to use a smartphone.

I showered with my phone, I was using my S-Pen to control my music player while the water was pouring down on the phone....not worried!

Both of these things above here are not tested by IP68 and are not warrantied. Glad your stuff is ok but that sort of thing should not be encouraged as unsuspecting readers will think that's safe for their phone. That's a very expensive potential mistake.

It should be, they showed a commercial of a guy dropping his into a swimming pool and it went to the bottom , so if it isn't warranted then that's false advertising right?

Not sure about the legalities, but their warranties and small print are definitely clear.

Nope, and I plan to keep it that way.

Doesn't matter if it's IP rated or not. I treat them the same way.

Many studies have shown that the average home toilet is cleaner than the average home kitchen sink (when dishcloths, sponges, etc., are taken into account).

Absolutely. In studies where cultures were taken from various places, toilets, even public toilets were far down on the list for harboring bacteria and viruses. Computer keyboards were among the nastiest things, as were kitchen counters and sinks.

As far as catching a virus or bacterial infection, some are airborne and some survive on surfaces for a long time. But getting sick from your own home toilet is extremely low probability, unless someone in your family is sick, in which case you do need to be very careful about any surfaces, etc.

But to get to the reason I take my phone or tablet into the crapper with me: Don't any of you ever sit for an extended period of time? Forcing things is not good for you. Gotta relax and take your time. ;)

We have always provided reading material in our bathrooms. Back in the day, we always had a stack of National Lampoons in there because they had good material for any length of stay. One-panel cartoons, or the "readers' photos" for those quick visits, and multi-page articles for the longer trips. It was always great to hear roars of laughter coming from the bathroom when a guest was in there!

Anyhow, our phones and tablets have taken the place of print material.

This all reminds me of this episode of "Seinfeld":

I thought accidents like this were one of the reasons they were making phones water proof. I have a friend who dropped her phone in the toilet twice in the past. She would stick the phone in her back pocket, and when she went to sit down the phone would slide right out and into the toilet. These things happen, and is probably one of the reasons for them being water proof. I mean there aren't that many scenarios where your phone will get wet, so I feel like a bathroom accident is one of the top reasons that it would. It is a little gross but as long as the toilet was empty when the phone fell in, I don't see it as that nasty once you clean it off. As people have commented, the wash cloth or sponge you use in your sink is probably crawling with far more bacteria.

Dropped my phone in the toilet one time....afterwards, the call reception was rather s#!tty. :::drum cymbals:::

I want to see if he had the video camera going to get a birds eyes look at the bowl lol and any floaters

Keep your phone away from the toilet please
