Due Today Released

Reinstalled, same result using aLogCat:

Thanks for the logcat. Unfortunately, neither of those are related to the syncing (they're actually coming from the system regarding the activation and pausing of the activity). Were there any error messages in the log that had a tag that mentioned ToodleDo?

OK, give me a few hours and I'll put up a new build. I added some code to display any errors that occur when during the sync process. That way we'll get a better feel for what's going on.

There was one more thing that may be causing it. I mistakenly had the wrong character set being sent (ToodleDo expects UTF-8 and I was sending an ISO character set). I know that that contributed to the mangling that one person was experiencing.

Now, it does seem to be doing some kind of sync. So, this build I'm implementing is going to put a few entries in the logcat to determine what's being sent to ToodleDo and what's being received. Maybe my parsing code is slightly off for some people and this would help in tracking that down.

Filtered the logs for Toodledo and I donot see any communications happening.

Let me know when the build is done and I will try it.

Thanks again.

OK, I've uploaded a new build on the market. I haven't updated the build on my site, yet.

If it still doesn't sync (which it probably won't unless the character encoding was the problem), please look through logcat for anything with the tags DueToday.Sync and DueToday.SyncToodleDo. Also, please make sure that you reset your sync data as this will clear the last sync date in the program, forcing the app to download everything from ToodleDo.

Of interest will be a fairly long list of replies in the DueToday.SyncToodleDo tag. What this should be is the reply from ToodleDo with all of the tasks (it's a single, large XML file). I'm betting that my sync code is not processing this correctly and therefore not entering the tasks into the database.

Thanks for helping me track this for you.

No offense, but it sounds like this app is still in BETA.

I'm using GTD and syncing with Toodledo, which then syncs with my Outlook desktop. It's a pretty big work-around but since there is no good way to sync Outlook tasks on Android, I'm kind of stuck. FWIW, it has held together okay for a few weeks now.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'm hesitant to buy an app that still being tweaked, but if you need a tester, I'd be glad to help.

I'm an ex-WM guy, too, so Good Luck! :)

I am interested in this app. You mention a free trial, but I only see a "buy" option in the market.

As for the beta status, I was assured by my beta testers that sync was working flawlessly, which is why I released it. After going over the code, I still can't see why it's working for some and not for others. However, I am working directly with a couple of people using test builds to see if I can track down what's going on.

If you're interested, please let me know.

For those who may be looking for it, Due Today is back up on AppBrain. Unfortunately, I don't know why it disappeared in the first place.

I didn't mean the beta comment as a put-down; just seemed like there were several issues yet to be resolved.

Anyway, FWIW, I'm extremely task oriented and use the tools I mentioned to keep me on track. If you think I can help, I'm at your service. PM me and let me know what I can do.

In case it makes a difference, I'm running a rooted HTC DI with 2.2 and 2.15 radio. Lately I've been changing ROMs and kernals like the weather (searching for the best battery-sipping combination) so that's pretty up in the air at any given moment.

I've just uploaded a new build which solves the syncing problems. Also, I've added the ability to change the sort order in each view, with the exception of the Next and Future views as they have their own builtin sorting (Next groups the tasks by project as it pulls the top 3 tasks from each project and future sorts by due date).

If you bought it via the market, you'll find the update shortly. If you haven't looked at it yet, or you bought it via my site, the download is here:

Tried downloading from your site, but keep getting version 1.0.

Please try again. The server was giving you a cached copy of the file. I've cleared the cache on the server, so it should be working fine now. If not, please let me know.

Giving it a test-drive. I DO like how "readable" it is on my phone and that it seems to sync very well with Toodledo.

Two questions: 1) on this screenshot - what is the bottom box useful for?

2) Is there a way to sort by Folder (I use ABC)?

Thanks!

That bottom box is the notes. It looks like you've some bad data in there.

Sorting by folder/project isn't supported, but I can certainly consider it.
