Dumb question but no one has answered it seemingly

Does the edge panel cause any noticeable battery drain? I actually use it quite a bit, but I fear that having more panels would cause more trouble perhaps?

If you use live panels that update feeds they'll use battery. If you use panels that are essentially pickers then you'll never notice the difference.

Consider the Edge panel as another set of widgets. So depends on what you put in there. The news panel should use as much as a news widget, etc.
