Duplicate contacts due to whatsapp and google duo??

If anyone can help, my essential phone keeps showing duplicate contacts for every communications app. I use an app to detect and purge those duplicate contacts but after a few minutes they come right back. Anyone having this issue or know how to resolve it?

I don't know if all phones have this feature or if it's one specific to Samsung phones, but you can try going to contacts>settings>merge duplicate contacts.

Its the first thing I searched for but essential does not provide this as a feature.

Essential is using Google Contacts app. If Google Contacts app supports it, then you will get that. Else, you can still download lots of other contact manager apps from the Play Store as well.

You'll have to merge them on Google Contacts via a PC then.

Any update on this issue? I just received my Essential phone, have fully updated yet experiencing the issue as well.

Go to Contacts>tap the = on the top left and tap suggestions. There will be an option to link contacts. At least that's the way it was for me
