This is my first post on Android Central! I've had my Evo since the launch date (I guess that would be about a month now). I've been lurking on these forums since then, but just now registered so I can start posting. The Evo is my first SmartPhone (I had an LG Lotus prior to the Evo). I love it, and it works great, but I've had one recurring problem that I wanted to ask about.

I've been searching the forums for someone with a similar problem to this, but haven't yet found it.

The problem is that sometimes I will get the same text message 2, 3 or even 4 times. It happens quite frequently (not with every text message, but I'd say it most frequently happens when I'm texting back and forth with someone).

I hope I explained that thoroughly. Does anyone else have this problem?

There are a couple reasons this happens. 1) because you might be sending text messages to someone on a different carrier. what happens is the text has to go through a third party company called mblox. Because they handle the traffic for ALL text messages from all carriers (carrier to carrier texts) sometimes they experience lag and texts are sent 2-3 times to the recipient.
2) if you are in an area with little service the texts are sent multiple times to make sure that you recieve the text message. The server might not have gotten the acknowledgement the first time so it sends the message again.

I hope that helps.

Yes, it does. The area where I live has spotty service in a lot of places, mainly because I live in WV and there are a lot of rural places that just don't have service at all. It explains why most people don't have the same issue.

It doesn't really bother me that much, like I said it mainly only happens when I am texting back and forth with someone and I've learned to cope with it.

The same thing happens on every Carrier (verizon, sprint, ATT , and tmobile). Yea i wouldnt worry about it too much.
