dx + gb= WiFi issues? problem solved

Not sure of this has already been discussed, so I apologize if I'm late. Ever since the GB update I had connection issues with my WiFi. I took a minute to figure it out and I seemed to have found the solution.

All you have to make sure is to set you router to anything other than N and you should have issues no longer. I personally set mine to G and I'm all good.

My router is set to N because all my devices are N supported wifi, I think your issue may be you are connecting a B or G device that causes the router signal to fluctuate to match the device connected.

yeah...mine's been set to G (fios router doesnt even do N) and i still have issues.

I'm not seeing any problems with WiFi on my DX w/ GB OTA, I have three different routers I regularly use and all work fine with multiple devices on the network.

D-Link DAP-1522 (b/g/n)
Buffalo WHR-G125 (b/g)
Netgear WNDR-3700v2 (a/b/g/n)

hah. that is SO not a solution. More likely than not, the issue boils down to security types, and the intricacies of mixed mode functionality across several devices. Though any modern router can run in b/g/n mixed mode, transmission speeds for N devices will max out around 150mbps if a non-n-capable device is on the same network. My droid X will not connect to my router if i set it to N only, WPA PSK2.

I've done a little bit of testing and it seems with it set to g-only and being farther away from the router it works longer

Using wpa+tkip instead of wpa+aes seemed to solve my problems, i have a G router so setting it to G only wasn't a big deal.

So I've been having major issues with this. My connection never stays connected. Anyone else having major issues?

I have added my DX's MAC address to my router, hopefully that will help. Other than that I cannot think of anything else that will help.

this may or may not help you guys at all. I had a problem staying connected to a samsung 4g wifi hotspot via Linux desktop. I changed the authentication from the default wpa-tkip to wpa-aes. that completely solved my issues.

To resolve this issue for Droid X on Gingerbread change your router settings from wpa2-aes to wpa-tkip and you should be good to go problem solved!

I've had this issue since day one of owning my DX (July '10) and am well aware that it has to do with using WPA2 on my network. I have to admit I'm starting to get a bit annoyed that with 2.2 coming and going and now 2.3 here the issue still hasn't been resolved. The only thing that I've found to work other than changing the encryption type is switching WiFi off and then back on again.

Why? I too am having WIFI issues. My eris and laptop both can hook up and are usable. My X, no. Don,t you think that WIFI would be a priority to work. Worked before GB. Why should I have correct what the programmers couldn't? I don't mind a little tweaking, but come on.

I mean it sucks but this probably isn't the place where Motorola will address the issue this is just the place where get together and figure out how to make f'd up sheeet to work right?

I had a similar issue with my Dlink router with DSL. It kept dropping the wireless connection and unable to reconnect until I restarted my router. My Droid X and PS3 experienced the same problem. I searched and searched and came across a forum post for Iphones having the same issue. All the post said was to go to "advanced wireless" settings on your router and change whatever is there to:

Transmit Power : High
Beacon Period : 75 (20..1000)
RTS Threshold : 2304 (1..65535)
Fragmentation Threshold : 2304 (256..65535)
DTIM Interval : 1 (1..255)
802.11d Enable : (Unchecked)
WMM Enable : (checked)
Short GI : (checked)

Ever since (like 2 months) my Droid X and PS3 have never dropped its wifi connection at my house.
