Early QC issues

You can see where the edge of the screen bends. That's where the flaw is. But I haven't turned it on yet, to see if it causes a bigger issue with the screen. I may just contact support and try to get it switched out first. View attachment 351338View attachment 351339View attachment 351340

Yep thats exactly how mine looks. To answer your question, the actual screen does seem to be affected as it does go down that far.

What do you plan to do? I'm chatting with a rep and they're telling me, my only option is to order a new device and send the other one back and cancel out the original order, and re-order everything again. This is what I was afraid of. Always something.

It isn't really bothering me that much so I plan on keeping it. Unless it gets worse in the next 2 weeks, then I'll send it back. As I've said, the case kind helps to hide it also.

Mine has it, and it is not visible when the screen is on. I purposely looked for it using apps in light mode, and there is no discoloration. I still ordered a replacement as mine also has it, but if the new one has it it may just be a weird manufacturing flaw. Does anyone with a black model have it? (Mine is graphite)

Yeah. I am torn. My wife knows it'll bother me, and I should just suck it up and do the return. I didn't notice it, with the screen on. but I can still see it with the case on, when the screen is off. I am just worried it'll get worse from this point forward. But also, the new device isn't guarantied too not have the same issue, since this seems to be a thing.

I would return it. It wasn't a $20 item. I am with your wife, if it bothered you enough to post the issue it will bother you more later, and why take a chance of it getting worse. I know it would bother me

That looks like it could possibly affect the water resistance of the phones. And you can see the gap in the frame and the exposed glue. I would be worried that it would get worse over time from being flexed as it's put in/pulled out of pockets, sat on, twisted etc. I think a lot of companies products have taken a QC hit since the pandemic. That's not like Samsung at all

Yeah, I ended up ordering another device. The rep told me it would be here in 2 days, but since there's also a weekend approaching, I'm guessing next week. The purchase order says the 22nd. I figured I could at least play with the new device until then. And try to clean up my N20U for the new transfer to make things cleaner.

It couldn't, because you can't see the frame or anything. All it looks like is a tolerance was off, so the connector that connects the screen to the board got bunched up and ended up pushing on that edge of the screen.

I didn't order my phone until last night. It said the 22nd, but I got my FedEx tracking number and they say the 20th. Fingers crossed that you get yours quickly too. And without any defects!

If I’m understanding correctly, it sounds like this would not be an issue at all if the screen wasn’t curved? If that is indeed the case perhaps Samsung will finally, finally see the error of their ways (on this) and give us a flat screen.

I doubt that. Or we would have seen similar issues like this on previous devices. I could see that conclusion if this were the first curved device they had, but the wrinkle isn't even near the edge, just the bottom of the screen.

Nah this could happen to any screen. I've seen it on an iPhone, but nowhere near as bad or noticeable. (it just looked like a very slightly waviness instead of almost a crease)

Just to update, you can sort of see it when the screen is on, on a white screen, but only at a really extreme angle. Even then it looks like a very very faint shadow.

I am so close to pulling the trigger on an AT&T 23U but this gives me pause until I find out more about the issue.
