Early QC issues

New one is arriving tomorrow. Ran the FDR and boxed the original one up and printed the return label already. Seeing how this just seems to be a thing, if there is any issue with it, I have Samsung Care + for the next year. So, it'll get taken care of one way or another.

Same, my replacement comes tomorrow.

Welp... received my replacement, and it has the same issue. Not worse that the first, probably just the same. As I mentioned, I'll deal with it for now. I'll give it a bit more time and see if Samsung says anything about this. And if not, if it gets worse, I'll use the Samsung Care+ to have it fixed. Pretty disappointing out of the box nonetheless.

And from what you can see, the defect is not a screen/panel issue? I really can't understand from the pics and I guess will just have to wait and see when my phone comes but when I say could be whoever is making the screens, I mean the whole panel assembly where they put the glass, screen, digitizer, seal it all up and send it to each of the locations for phone assembly.

Not sure what exactly it is, but it just looks like the edge of the screen itself isn't sealed or seated properly against either the digitizer or the glass. As if, when it was assembled, just that edge/corner, isn't flush along that bottom edge.

A "light refraction phenomenon"! Yeah, right. The actual light refraction appears along the all bottom edge of the screen and barely noticeable. The bottom-right corner in this case should look the same as the bottom-left corner. Just a lame explanation from Samsung.

Damn that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Guess I'll see if mine has it whenever Samsung ships mine.

I never had the S22U. However, I've had the Note7, S7, N8, N10+, and N20U. None of those devices has ever had this issue. The fact that it's even more frequent, means it's poor QC and Samsung is just washing its hands of the poor QC.

I didn't have it on my n10+ either. Now I'm wanting to say I don't have it on my s22u either but I'll check when I get home from work since using my flip 4 today. I'm sure I would have noticed it if I did tho. But will double check. Is it that pronounced or whatever to the point it is annoying?

I believe "light refraction phenomenon" is a eupamism for "manufacturing defect".

The fact that it is nothing new and is present in older devices hardly makes this a "nothing burger". Although it is possible it's been blown out of proportion, Samsung should own it if it is a legitimate and widespread issue..

What else are they going to say except nothingburger lol. Functionally it probably is nothing so big deal. It's probably more a cosmetic issue comparable to having a finish blemish on the aluminum frame for the paint on the back glass. Won't affect the operation but for a $1200 phone, it's something that, or any of other examples mentioned, shouldn't be acceptable or pass QC.

But they are certainly not going to replace thousands of screens and lose money for just a cosmetic issue for the phones that are already delivered.

Shining a 700 lumen light on my S22U panel, don't see a flaw anywhere and doubt it was that common.

Just hope with the push back on my delivery date that Samsung has made some adjustments to QC by the time I get my phone. ;)

My new one also has it. Now I’m debating whether to just return everything and wait a while

My note 20 had nothing but issues and TMobile refunded me 6 months later. My 21,22 and 23 so far have been solid units.

I'm thinking, that because this is deemed a "non issue" from Samsung, it'll be a while. I was debating on doing the same, but I can't lose out on the (albeit) weak trade-in, I also need the 1TB and I'm worried that if I wait longer. The 1TB will be harder to find.

Yeah I just don’t know. Only reason I may just live with it is because of the free storage upgrade on the preorder.
