Early QC issues

Which at this point means losing a free storage upgrade.
For me, I'm on the 1TB S23U. So the free storage upgrade wasn't a factor. I did have to jump through a few hoops to get a rep to build my cart to be the same as it was when I originally pre-ordered with the same kinds of discounts. I did also change from the 2yr SC+ to 1yr SC+. Either way, the annual then changes to monthly for the Samsung Care+. In the end it made it slightly cheaper for me to do it that way. However, I still got the discounted ear Buds, credits, and promo discounts as my original order. And I'm already using the "replacement" device. Ironically, it didn't restore my old stuff on this one, the same way it did the initial device.

On this device, Smartswitch. I am debating on making a backup of the N20U and trying to restore all over again. But it took all day today and it's not exactly where I would like. And I already started deleting more old junk files I found on this new device. On my initial device it was a combo between SmartSwitch and the device pairing, like the article you shared.

You don't even need to see it under a microscope. I first saw it in direct sunlight with the screen on. So everyone saying it doesn't affect the phone is wrong. It affected the way the screen looked in sunlight and produced a rainbow effect on the bottom corner. This is a mess up by Samsung and them not wanting to correct the issue! Would cost them way to much on a brand new phone launch!

Okay so it produced a rainbow effect? I've been trying to figure out why my husband's Lime Green phone display didn't give me severe migraine pain but my Lavender one does. My lavender phone had uneven coloring and it only looked white when you looked at the screen head on.

I know all OLED displays do eventually shift toward either pink or aqua blue as you tilt the display away but this phone had it bad like my husband's Pixel 2XL whose display was infamous for qc issues like that.

My S22 Ultra display is truly flawless and comfortable so i sadly have packaged up my lavender s23 Ultra. I don't know if my S23 Ultra had the flaw described in this thread. If it did, it wasn't readily apparent. But I just thought the display panel was oddly the quality of something from 4 years ago.

I was going to order another one but maybe with this issue going on I'll sit it out.

Ahh you have a lot of stuff lol

Yes, unfortunately, lol. Aside from some settings in a few apps, primarily my BlackBerry Hub+ app, most of it I can deal with, and adjust settings as I go along. Might just sit down with both devices and manually check the settings if I can.

Maybe get a good size USB storage drive and back up to that

One small update. I got around to setting up the replacement I received on Monday, and the defect is visible with the screen on. It appears as a shadow, just like the curved edges of the screen. Some may be willing to tolerate it (more power to you), but its going to bother me so the new one is also going back. Guess I'll just wait until they go on sale for real, or just until I think they've gone through their original run stock.

I wondering... if anyone that has this defect if you put on some polarized sunglasses if the area is clear or messed up?

Just to clarify, does the shadow appear on the part of the screen that's actually displaying an image, or is the shadow in the margin where no image appears?

Screen. It just looks like a shadow like the curved parts of the screen. Just a shade darker. I'm actually really disappointed, because I wasn't a big fan of the S22 ultra, but so far really, really liked the S23U.

I guess I am going to skip this upgrade out like I did with the 21 and then the 9 before that. Weird that they are having this issue, especially since they made the screen a bit flatter.

These are mass-produced. The fact that some have it and some don't mean that, by definition, this is a flaw. If it was not a flaw, either all would have it, and it was intended to be so, or none would.

Thats not how manufacturing works. There are tolerances to every process.

At the end of the day, Samsung says it is within spec. If that's not good enough for a guy, the option is to return it. Not saying that's good or bad, just pointing out reality.

There are manufacturing tolerances and QC tolerances at every level like when the panels are created at one factory and then sent to another to be put together and then when it's ready for shipping, etc.

Then... there are tolerances when it hits the consumers hands and there are issues found or slipped through the cracks of what is acceptable to say "It's ok... a nothing burger" or bad enough to have to correct it the possible thousands of screens already out under warranty by either exchange or panel swap, meaning $$$, while they make the correction at the factory for future phones to avoid future claims.

The later where the say it's a nothingburger is them purely trying to avoid losing money on exchanges and swaps on a clearly QC issue that shouldn't have left the factory that way. It's the same as finish blemish out of box.
