Early S6 users, how's your battery life?

First day of full use, I bet I could have had 6+ SoT. I used auto brightness all day except the first hour of screen time

Disabling Google services, nfc, etc has always been key to getting solid battery life on any of my phone's as well.

I always get so excited when I read these sorts of battery results posts until the end when someone says "also I disabled everything on my phone to get these results."

I think there is a HUGE market for an Android-based phone where it literally can't do anything but texting and mobile web. Apparently a vast majority of enthusiasts are happy enough with a handicapped experience to justify the concept. Unfortunately I am not so battery results for my usage intentions are few and far between.

Also don't get me started on how hard it is to find people who actually use their phone as a phone. Basically battery performance is a pure mystery to me until the phone is in my pocket.

Only if you assume all the bloat functions are somehow a "positive experience" for "everybody."
I for one run my entire business with the assistance of Google Now. So yeah, it's useful if you learn to use it! And yet it seems 90% of the people here who are obsessed with battery life just switch it off first thing (or at least its location functions, which are absolutely fantastic).

Gotcha. That's really odd. If you do end up testing it, it will be interesting to see what you find. When your wifi is on, do you have on the option to always allow scanning? It's under settings >> wifi >> advanced >> always allow scanning. Also what are your location settings? That may also contribute to the wifi drain. I disable location, because I barely ever use it unless I hop on Yelp or Maps, and in that case I just turn it on for the times I need it.
Much better battery life today - I've been consistently at 4G at home & out in the new case.

Screen on time 1 HR 24 mins. Google play jumped above cell standby in the last few hours:

Well, good for you, everybody have their own priorities. So I don't blame whoever want to use the phone their own way.

You will also get the liars who say they have everything turned on 7 hours of screen time and are getting 24hrs plus of battery life I find a lot of BS artists frequent forms have maybe 1 or 2 posts and usually they seem to have bionic phones

I'm telling you, Google's obsession of tracking people through its apps is the source of all battery problem. Lol I disable all of them.

Everything runs on my phone all the time and I can routinely get 36+ hours out of a single charge... You sound like you're excusing Samsung for the small battery in a power hungry phone

Too soon to tell. Got my phone a few hours ago and I'm at 32% still so not bad with everything I've done so far. Will see in a fee days as my usage slows down and I get settled in on it

Yeah I don't think your brain processes words properly. The point of my post was quite clearly that it is nearly impossible to find people who use the phone with the stock functions intact, not that somehow people who choose to disable those functions are being blamed. Take a chill pill bro.

Anyway, back on topic. Anyone at all actually using all of the stock functions who wants to chime in on battery life? Joe the Insider has provided his results but I'd love to have others as well.

Chill pill? Lol, you haven't see my uncool post yet. Whatever.

I do have the WiFi drain issue on Verizon so I turn off WiFi when I leave the home, but even with this bug I get decent numbers. Can't wait for my replacement device to get here and see what it can do. 1428889575165.jpg1428889582359.jpg

I have verizon and mine does same thing on wifi. Cell standby beats everything even when I'm using phone to web serf the entire time. Battery seams about same as my s5 so far thoough so can't complain .
You said when you get replacement. Why you getting replacement if you don't mind me asking.

2 reasons. I have the problem with scratches all over the screen and I have an issue with battery drain when my WiFi is on but not connected. These numbers I just posted are with me turning off WiFi when I leave my home. If I left it on, my battery would have been dead in no time. It only drained about 4% over night when connected to WiFi though so it seems OK as long as I'm connected. The numbers I posted above I could live with, but I don't want to be having to toggle my WiFi on and off all the time. For $700 I want my phone to work perfectly and if it can't then I'll get a different phone that can. I love this phone and I'm hoping the replacement works out.

Also, "cell standby" includes the WiFi radio in its calculation. If you download GSam Battery monitor you can get a better idea of what is actually using your battery because it breaks it down further.

Got my Rogers 32gb black model today, so far the battery is OK but I've been using it a lot of course. I'll give the phone a week of usage and recharges before basing any judgements. No cell standby issues, sits between 1-2% usage.

Not complaints from me either today!

My battery life has been awful. I think it's defective.

Amazing to see people asking for replacements for battery issue which are software specific.
